I am so full but it was so worth it! This was traditionally a New England Fish House but it was sold recently and they still have haddock, clam strips, crab cakes and all the other good stuff but the chef/owner is Peruvian and has added Peruvian specialties!
This is a great thing for me because my husband is vanilla and really does not go out of his way to try different cuisines but I love everything. This allows for people to eat traditional seafood recipes or move into the more exotic.
The place has been spruced up since the last time I was there. They now have booths, TVs, fresh paint, etc. They do serve beer and wine.
You will see traditional New England clam chowder. It was good and chock-full of clams and potatoes. I did add pepper but that is my personal preference. I will still say Lighthouse Seafood is my favorite but this is a solid second.
The fried shrimp, fries and hush puppies got good reviews. They were nice size shrimp, too. Nothing was greasy.
Now to the Peruvian food, it was very good!
This huge boat was filled with jalea- fried seafood including fish, shrimp, calamari and even fried mussel in the shell. It is topped with a mixture of thinly sliced red onions, diced tomatoes, cilantro and a little bit of chili and garlic. Of course, it comes with fresh lime. Delicious!
When you move over to the second spot, he will find a delicious rice filled with seafood. Then the classic ceviche with toasted plantains as a garnish (and to eat) is the third item in this combo. This was delicious and had just a little bit of kick. Everything tasted super fresh.
This combo can feed at least two people! There was plenty to bring home. Oh, it was only $28!!!!
Our server Alexis was charming and efficient. He brought over extra napkins, brought over the cocktail sauce, ketchup and tartar before the fried shrimp were delivered. They also have malt vinegar on the table.
Seems like an odd mix to have kept the old concept and add the new but they had a lot of regulars that eat the seafood, so I think it is going to continue to grow as the people that love Peruvian...
ย ย ย Read moreOwners are disconnected from their guest. They are friendly with a few regulars but to have your name on the building "Ray's Fish & Chips" and not to acknowledge each guest and least greet them is horrible hospitality.. Now for the food. When my husband and I first found this spot we thought it was a real Gem! The portions were amazing the food was hot and fresh. Just good seafood. We continued to go and for a while it was great food. The service was always questionable! After inviting a few friends along and receiving bad customer service and mixed up orders, incomplete orders my husband and I started becoming aggravated. Not one time did RAY come over to apologize or see what was going on. They didn't care!! The wife is usually in her own world. So don't bother with her. James who kinda reminds me of a grown Oppie is just as clueless. The last straw was last Friday, my husband and I hadn't been out for a while and he suggested Ray's. I figured we hadn't been in a while and maybe our luck will change I said to him I don't want James serving us that young man gets under my skin but of course when we got there James is the only server other than the new guy so we put on a happy face we were cordial we ordered and we sat there and we waited we ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the shrimp and fish we also ordered a salad and hush puppies and coleslaw we waited every waited I'll food appears with no salad no hushpuppies no coleslaw keep in mind the hush puppies was an appetizer and a salad should have came out before my meal so as we're eating our fish and chips he goes old I'm sorry your other stuff is coming out in a minute and I looked at him and I said or we supposed to get a hush puppies and salad and coleslaw before our meal he goes yeah I'm sorry no emotions no big deal just yeah I'm sorry that was it for me I'm done the portions are smaller the owners are rude James is clueless and there's no point in giving them our money when the customer service is horrible and there's really no apology when they screw up and they screw up a lot I'm done with Ray's fish...
ย ย ย Read moreTerrible Experience - Three times is Enough!**
We have been customers at Adrians fish & chips for two yrs now, their services were good until three wks ago when our experience became nothing short of a nightmare! After today's visit, I can confidently say this place is in dire need of serious management overhaul.
On the three occasions, our orders were incomplete. We've paid for items that were simply missing, everytime we brought this to the staff's attention, we were met with lack of concern and a bewildering runaround. Instead of resolving the issue, they just kept taking us in circles, giving us different excuses and no real solutions. We had enough today when the short guy with a bald spot dismissed the lady when she went to talk to him about the issue in our presence!
Their customer service has become abysmal; it feels like they donโt care about their patrons at all. We left the store today feeling frustrated and cheated. Itโs unacceptable to be charged for food that you never received, and the way they the guy dismissed the complaints was nothing short of appalling.
We've genuinely enjoyed meals from them before, but these last experiences has left a bad taste in our mouthsโliterally and figuratively. We wonโt be returning, to other customers, think twice before wasting your time and money here. Save yourself the trouble and choose a place that actually values...
