I was a waitress for 20 years, so I am very easy going when being served. I went to Bob Evans in Port Charlotte on Thanksgiving Day. I expected it to be busy and it was. I didn't want long to be seated. The server came shortly after we were seated. She took our drink order. I ordered water with lemons. She brought the drinks within a few minutes. They had a reduced menu, which I must've missed seeing that online. So it was either 4 choices of breakfast or 2 choices of Thanksgiving meals. I chose turkey. With it you are allowed 3 sides. I chose macaroni and cheese, green beans and Cole slaw. The server stated they were out of coleslaw, so I asked for double side of green beans. You also have a choice of rolls or biscuits. I chose biscuits. You also got pie and had to order it ahead of time. I asked the server 3 more times for lemons. (I don't like the taste of chlorine in the water. ) I told my son she must be new at being a server. So he actually asked her if she was new when she brought our food. She stated no, she had been there for a while. The meal came. There was no macaroni and cheese. I asked again for lemons and the biscuits. She finally brought lemons and I asked about the biscuits. She stated they were making more. She did refilled son's soda. I asked again about the biscuits and told her I could take it home with my pie. She stated. " I can check to see if there are biscuits in the window, but good luck with that and giggled. When I went to pay, the cashier looked so exhausted I decided not to complain . But I did decide to write this review. She was not rude, but was definitely mixed up and confused. It took a long time for her to show a smile. Maybe she was having a bad day? I still gave her a good tip. But I seriously doubt I will eat...
Read moreThe only reason why I give it a 2 star is because the food was really good. However I encountered many problems coming here. I went here with my mother on my birthday and the first thing that went wrong was, they didn't even acknowledge us when we walked into the door. We stood there for a few minutes in silence while they talked among each other. Once we finally got seated, we had a server named Paulina. She took our order and repeated it back to us. So she knew exactly what we ordered. I sat at a table where I could see in the back where the kitchen places the food when it's ready to be picked up and brought to the customers. The food for our table was sitting there for 10 minutes and my mother's eggs were cold. She also ordered bacon and she didn't receive it. The waitress moved very leisurely from table to table like she didn't even care, and barely acknowledged us. We had to wave her over to tell her the missing item. We cancelled on it since we had a lot to do that day, but we asked her for a refill on our drinks. She walks off and I'm watching her, she didn't even bring them over. After another 10 minutes we decided we had enough of the terrible service. I literally work in a fast food place and we serve customers better than that. We had to wait 10 minutes to wave her over to get the bill and she was very disorganized and even gave us the wrong one at first. The second one however, I ordered regular pancakes with a strawberry top. She entered blueberry pancakes with no strawberry top and it was in fact more expensive. We cleared it up, but that is an experience no one should have in...
Read moreI am being generous with a 2 star review. The server Tiffany who I also has a previous bad dining experience with is a bit gruff and tough talking for my likes. I heard from her on both experiences things you just do not say to patrons. They obvious have training issues and perhaps lack of management knowhow at this location. The meal I ordered was chicken and dumplings deep dish. Sounds good right? Well it is an absolute embarrassment to this establishment. Notice the first word is chicken. What I got was an open biscuit on the bottom of the bowl, what seemed like three scoops of mashed potatoes on the biscuits, about 20 rather small dumpling noodles, 4 or 5 smaller than a penny pieces of chicken that appeared to be from a can (they had no flavor) and some chicken gravy to cap it off. When I told Tiffany about how disappointing this meal looks, her response was well we changed the dish and it says so on the new menu. Knowing my displeasure I falsely assumed she would mention the encounter to the manager on duty. But as I said earlier she is less than a talented server. My previous visit a member of my party got a sirlion steak that was tough and mentioned it to her and believe it or not her reply was "that is the quality we get in, we are not a steak house" Now I like Bob Evan's and eat there a few times a week, but something has changed at this location and I am going bypass them. We have plenty of eateries in my area that will appreciate...
