I will say this is usually a good place to eat brunch for special occasions. Today was different. We awaited for approx. 40 minutes when people that arrived after us were called. My wife had to go up and let the hostess know, which she looked and apologized. We were then seated. It took around 10 minutes to get a server to greet us and get our drinks/ orders.there needs to be server training. My elderly mother in law ordered an omellete, which comes with home fries/hash brown/grits and toast. The server asked her if she wanted them. She thought it was an extra charge, so she declined. It should have been, which kind of each do you want. I gave my order for a meat omellete. She also ordered and was charged extra onions, but there were hardly any in the omlette.I told her what kind of sausage, chorizo, but it was added as an upcharge. I didn't get the ham that came with it either. I got my home fries but no toast. I didn't ask for it when I ordered, but I never declined to have what was included in the price we were charged. The drinks were constantly refilled in an expedient manner. We also ordered the Blueberry Cobbler Cakes as we usually do. The menu states it comes with cinnamon streusel. It didn't have any, and we were not informed that there was a deviation in the ordered food. There was a noticeable difference in the amount of compte so we asked if we could have some more. She brought out a small container that is used for sauces, but it was less than half full of compote, which was charged withiut notification of extra charge. For what they brought out, we would not have gotten it for extra charge. When we got close to the center, there was raw dough. The server took it back and put in another order without the cinnamon streusel to go. It was not a good experience compared...
Read moreCanopy Road Cafe is just "ok" and I doubt I'll be going back a 3rd time. This place is a step above McDonald's but not at the level of First Watch - it's more along the lines of Denny's, Cracker Barrel, and IHOP. I would even say Metro Diner is a better choice.
The hosts need to do a better job of sitting people in a more timely manner. There was a party of 9 and 2 clean tables, side by side, with silverware on them. It took the hosts 5 minutes to push the tables together before they called the party to sit. There were 3 clean tables ready before they called my party of 4 to sit.
A server attended to us promptly after we sat, but didn't check on us after the food was served, took forever to get our check, and just as long to bring back my credit card - while they went on to do other things. The QR code on the check is only meant for Apple iPhones using Apple Pay. Why would you ignore the other 87% market share of Android users, I don't know?
They use off-the-shelf grocery items (Smuckers, Libby's), don't always cook to order (eggs over medium versus over light), and the value for the price paid is just not there. I can spend the same amount and get a tastier/healthier meal at First Watch.
The restaurant is not terribly dirty, but not very clean either. There's usually food on the chairs from when they wipe off the table, food on the floor (pretty much anywhere you look), and small trash here and there (like straw paper wrappers and napkins).
Canopy Road Cafe is ok if you want to visit it at least once but no one from my family wants to go back. Hope your experience is better than the...
Read moreI found my experience eating here to be rather average. The food was mostly good and we had very good service however nothing left amazed with this place.
We went on a Saturday morning around 9am and only waited about 10 minutes before we were seated which is great as every time I pass this place there is a crowd waiting outside. Unfortunately they sat us in a booth which had just been cleaned with a rather wet and smelly rag. Sitting down on a wet booth bench with shorts on was rather unpleasant. The table was also soaking wet, which we quickly wiped down with the napkins our silverware were wrapped in.
The menu looked great! I ordered a skillet breakfast with a side of grits and my husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. Coffee was great and the food came out very quickly. My skillet came with hashbrowns even though I ordered home fries...no biggie, I love them both. Eggs cooked perfectly. Ham was delicious. The biscuits... here's the problem.... if you have biscuits and gravy on your menu the biscuits should be fresh and flaky....that is not what we got. What we got was a biscuit that had probably been baked some time ago and then reheated in the microwave before it was put on the plate. It was hard in places and we had to use a knife to cut it. The grits came out luke warm and I got warm bread instead of toast....with rock hard butter on the side, which of course was useless.
I would like to come back again and see if the experience is better as I have heard great things about this place. For now...I would call this pretty...
