When a restaurant extends its culinary experience from dine-in to delivery, meticulous attention to packaging is paramount. Presentation, temperature retention, and overall food quality must be preserved to ensure that the essence of the dining experience is not lost in transit. Unfortunately, my recent order from The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill via Uber Eats demonstrated a glaring lack of care in these critical areas.
Having paid $46.00 for a meal that was largely inedible, I am compelled to share this review—not out of pettiness, but because quality assurance in delivery is fundamental, especially for establishments presenting themselves as refined culinary destinations.
Out of the three items I ordered, only the Avgolemono soup met expectations. It was properly packaged, arrived at an appropriate temperature, and had a delightful flavor. However, this single success was overshadowed by the failure of the remaining dishes.
The steak skewer, inexplicably placed atop a cold rice salad, was both cold and hard, with an off-putting fishy taste. This unpleasant flavor permeated the salad beneath it, rendering the entire dish unpalatable for both myself and my guest. A simple solution—wrapping the meat in foil and packaging it separately—could have preserved the integrity of both components.
Similarly, the lemon potatoes, which should have been a warm, comforting side, arrived cold and soggy. Proper insulation, such as foil wrapping, would have helped maintain their temperature and texture.
My intention is not merely to criticize but to highlight areas for improvement. Delivery meals should reflect the same standard of quality expected in-house. Unfortunately, The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill fell short, offering an experience that did not justify the price. Unless significant improvements are made in their packaging and delivery practices, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a satisfying at-home...
Read moreRight off the bat I had to take a star away because we anticipated having a nice lunch out of the house, but when we walked in we realized we would not be able to stay indoors and eat. The temperature was what we would expect to feel in a walk-in refrigerator! My husband is rarely cold, yet he, my father in law and I had to leave and eat on a bench down by the cafe. It was 75° outside, yet the inside of the restaurant must have been down by 60 I would guess. Maybe I was exaggerating with the walk-in refrigerator, I'll never know. Eating on the bench wasn't so easy with gyros, by the way!
Speaking of gyros, they were pretty good. Although one of us ordered the gyro entree meal and it was weird because the gyro was was not wrapped up as you would expect, like the other ones were. The gyro was laying flattened in a tin container and we were not quite sure how It was supposed to be eaten . It had no lettuce on it - Just a side salad. I'm not sure what happened there - We must have misinterpreted the menu.
One last thing, might seem petty to others, but we could not hear the young lady behind the counter, and she could not hear us. I think it had to do with the ambient noise, perhaps from the intense air conditioning lol. Whatever it was, it was very difficult to communicate with her.
Ask for how the food tasted, the food tasted great. Otherwise I would have had to rate much lower. There was plenty of meat on the gyros. They were sliced a little bit thick for my liking, however. Also, the tzatziki sauce was extremely thick and was not tasting like other tzatziki sauces I've had. Regardless, it was still a tasty meal and...
Read moreUPDATE to the UPDATE: I visited recently and voiced my opinion about the inconsistencies of the past but they seem to have resolved most of that. The recent problem was reduced gyro meat portions. When I mentioned that, the chef was very accommodating and added a little more. I hate to do things like that but I felt it was important as the initial motivation for my repeat visits was affected by these negative aspects. Great job getting back up to 5 stars!
UPDATE: (see bottom for initial review months ago) Downgrading from 5 to 2 stars due to consistency. I order the same thing- large Greek salad with gyro meat (I used to order this 3-4 times a week) but they lack consistency so now I go once a month.
For example, Sometimes the: Lettuce is chopped, sometimes it is almost entire leaves. Gyro meat is shaved, sometimes it is chopped incredibly fine it’s difficult to get on your fork. There is bread, then sometimes there is none. Same with the olives.
I order from them once a month now. It’s not worth the frustration of eating a giant romaine leaf with tiny bits of meat falling off of it and no warm, soft bread to enjoy.
Please fix this problem!!! Your customers beg you! 😩
Original review: Large Greek salad with gyro meat-Yum! Huge portion, amazing flavor and great value.
I order this several times a week online and occasionally dine in. Their large salad and gyro meat or chicken skewers are consistently delicious. I never have a bad experience here. Not a lot of interaction with the staff but they always seem helpful and friendly. I highly recommend The...
