Review: Clear Sky Club Haus – Palm Harbor, FL
I have eaten at this establishment a couple times before. The biggest problem with restaurants that have 50 items on the menu, you don’t know if you are going to have a good experience or a bad one. Unfortunately, today wasn’t a good experience. —— Michael Glinter has traveled to 68 countries and 36 states to get the flavor of some amazing foods. His view on reviews is simple – Taste, Presentation, and Service. He believes it's important to tell the reader both a positive and negative unbiased look at the restaurant. Let's take a look and see how Casa Consenza scored in these 3 categories. —— Taste and Presentation APPETIZER – we started with the Haus made crispy Brussel sprouts topped with goat cheese, balsamic glaze, and crumbled bacon. The dish itself sounded promising with their topping of goat cheese, balsamic glaze, and crumbled bacon, but unfortunately, the execution fell short. While the sprouts were well-cooked and crispy, the toppings were disappointingly sparse. The goat cheese would have been great if it was enough to cover the whole dish as goat cheese ads great flavor but it was only on about 30% of the sprouts, offering limited amounts of the tanginess that that the dish desperately needed, and the balsamic glaze was so minimal that it left the majority of the sprouts bland and underwhelming. This dish could have been bold and flavorful, however, the lack of toppings made it completely lackluster in taste. —— MAIN DISH – Ahi Tuna Salad Seared tuna, super greens, hard boiled egg, avocado, tomato, cucumbers, tomato ginger dressing. I always thought to myself how can you screw up a salad. Overall, the ingredients on the dish were OK – they weren’t balanced well. There was a lot of cucumber and tomato, the egg was ½ as much and the avocado was almost not existent compared to the rest of the dish. The Tuna wasn’t the best Tuna I have ever had. The tomato ginger dressing was a major disappointment. What really baffled me was the lack of ginger flavor at all. Ginger is a powerful spice that is not easy to miss in a dressing, but overall the dressing lacked any discernible depth of flavor. The tomato component tasted flat, as if it came from a watered-down puree, and the ginger was nearly nonexistent. Instead of being a bold dressing with significant flavor it was bland, uninspiring, and lacked the flavor to really make the salad a true enjoyment. For a dressing that consisted of two great ingredients, it was shockingly underwhelming. —— While I still probably would go back, you have to either lower your expectations or just be prepared for a spotty meal. The ambience is great for family, friends, or even watching the big game. The service was generally good. They just have a menu that is so complex and diverse it’s hard for them to make anything...
Read moreOn January 20, which was a Sunday I went up to the clear sky club HAUS and ordered their shrimp platter by Monday night. I was dry heaving and throwing up violently. Ended up in the ER Early Monday morning from shrimp poisoning. I was sweating shrimp smells all week I could smell it coming out of my body, the poison. I missed four days of work and on Saturday morning and ended up at the ER again because I was curled up in a ball with cramps and dry heaving from the Nasty shrimp that I ate. I had spoken with Gabby earlier that week and she had told me that corporate takes these things seriously that they would be sending me a packet, hoping that they would be paying for my ER visit well now I have two ER visits and no insurance information from clear sky. They clearly don’t care about the people that eat here if it comes to this and their deadly sick from their shrimp. I’m very disappointed because this used to be one of my top three favorite places to go. In hindsight, the shrimp platter came out in less than 10 minutes and it did taste a little stronger than normal. I also came across a Tampa Bay Times article that states 96% of the Tampa Bay restaurants do not use fresh local golf shrimp. They try to save money and buy cheaper shrimp from out of the country either way the shrimp that I got that night was rotten. I know because I was sweating it out all week and it stunk like shrimp. Clearsky better contact me or I’m contacting a lawyer. I’m not Happy with how they are handling this at all and two ER visits later and two CAT scans later I shouldn’t have to pay out of my pocket after eating rotten shrimp from a restaurant that I used to love and trust for their quality well their quality is not good at this location. I’m also going to file a complaint with the board of health tomorrow. I was putting it off, but since I haven’t received the packet that they Said they were gonna send me I’ll just go full force and Fight for them to pay my ER bills They made me feel deathly sick from their rotten shrimp. And no one has called me back Either to ask me how I’m doing they clearly don’t care about the people that eat here and how they made Feel like death from eating their shrimp platter. I’m very very disappointed right now. I’m just now eating my first meal today seven days later and I don’t really wanna say it’s a meal. It was a fourth of a piece of chicken and some...

My friend Judy and I went for brunch and got there at 11:30am. Unfortunately brunch was already over and lunch service had begun.
The server was nice . I saw that lunch menu was filled with options and most meals sounded delicious.
However having been to the Dunedin location and when comparing both the experiences they were quite different to me.
I ordered the crab hush puppies thinking they would provide a hidden treat. Instead neither of us could taste crab and they just tasted like a regular hush puppy. Then for our entree Judy and I basically ordered a beef dip type sandwich. It was good. It wasn't great, I have had better. Unlike the Dunedin location I was floored by many of their dishes. Many times familiar food tasted like I never had it before though I did. The way it was prepared made it taste new and delicious.
Unfortunately the Eastlake location failed to deliver. There was nothing special or upscale about the food except the price. It was okay. It just did not have that surprise twist like so many dishes do at the Dunedin location.
The owners' comments states that "Eastlake Clear Sky an upscale twist of the best food around with the best top chefs in the area." I believe that in Dunedin but not in Eastlake, not yet.
We were hoping for something special but we didn't get that and it was disappointing.
Thank you for your consideration
Side note: Patrons with leftovers need more than a small cardboard box to hold food to carry home. I had au jus and since it hardly fit with the sandwich I shutter to think how well that cardboard would've...
