My husband made reservations on Valentine's Day for 2 at 8:15. We checked in at 8:10 and they said it would be a few minutes. At 8:20 they said the people at the table were finishing up. They then said they could sit us at another table. We walked towards the back of the restaurant and they wanted to place us at a High Bar Table which just wasn't very comfortable looking and also was near the restroom and the area seemed to be busy - we declined that table saying we would wait for our table to be ready. 8:40 we are finally seated.
I cannot fault the restaurant for the fact that customers lingered after their meal, but I can say you should not book so many reservations so close together especially on a night where couples are going to be out and enjoying each other. The chances of them lingering after their meal is good.
We waited for at least 10 minutes for the waiter to take our order. We had enough time to choose what we wanted to eat while we waited to be served,so we gave him oue entire order with the drink order. We both had a glass of Wine and each of us asked for a glass of ice water as well. He brings us our wine, shortly after our salad and soup I had to flag him down to please ask for our waters.
Another table was seated by us shortly after we ordered. They ordered with another waiter when our wine was given to us. They received their drinks, salad and soup shortly after the drinks and then they received the next portion of their meal- the lobster cake or prime rib croquette.... A few minutes passed and we received our lobster cake and prime rib croquette course as well. My point being we were seated and ordered before them And they received their food before us, we did not do any modifications and ordered it straight from the menu.
I was getting annoyed, but took into consideration they were busy.
We both ordered steak, which tasted very good by the way. My husband finished his, but I didn't finish mine and I offered the rest of mine to him. That is when we realized I had his steak (medium) and he had mine (medium well). You could not see very well in the restaurant because it was dark inside so neither of us could actually see how the steak was cooked. He is not a complainer and he just ate his steak. I did not finish mine because I did not care for the texture of it, even though it had a great taste. The reason I did not care for it is because I was in fact eating his steak.
The waiter never one time came to ask us how our meal is, however he did refill our water with a water pitcher once.
By that time we finished our main course were both pretty annoyed and decided to just take our desserts to go and leave.
I went to the restroom and he paid. I knew it was $75, but honestly thought it was $75 a couple because that is how much the service and experience would have been worth. It was indeed NOT worth the $177 that we paid.
I can not say I will be back. I am assuming when it's not a busy holiday the service and atmosphere might be better. At least I hope so.
Over all the food was good, but as I said the atmosphere and the customer service was...
Read moreI travel constantly for work and am always looking for quality dining and was recommended by someone that had a prior positive experience albeit from the original owner. This unfortunately was hands down one of the worst experiences I have had since I can remember. The server was very sweet but she did not know if they had bottled water or what kind. I asked for diet coke. It was flat, completely flat. A gentleman came out and said it's canned. That is fine but it doesn't mean it wasn't flat. It happens, if it was not handled by the delivery agent properly, not the end of the world but he acted as if I was wrong. I am in the service industry and am typically understanding but you could see it was flat. Moving on, my $41 filet ordered medium well came out medium rare and almost ice cold along with the rest of our food. I had to send it back and either through irritation or lack of skill came back hard seared on one side but not flipped on the other so I had to cut the bottom part of my steak off because still med. rare. The person with me ordered steak fries and the steak came out with her side and no frites. Then the server went and got the fries but they were not the Parmesan Truffle fries they were supposed to be. Her wine was sour and she is well versed in wine. What is funny is I had mentioned prior to us getting our food that the food was coming out piping hot. It does lead me to believe that ours was intentionally left cold and with lack of care over a flat diet coke and sour wine. This is 100% due to poor management. Being in the industry, stuff happens and we just have to acknowledge the facts in front of us and correct the issue instead of taking it personally and then punishing your diner for having valid complaints. We were cordial and understanding during the entire experience. The server was sweet but needed a lot...
Read moreSip 85 was empty upon entering, but soon filled up with regulars that the server and bartender knew by name and greeted with hugs.
Atmosphere : Quaint dining area featuring a modern twist on old world ambiance. Could see how it could be loud on a busy Friday or Saturday night, but if you want peace and quiet on a weekend night then stay home.
Bartender: Anthony was very informative, warm and receptive with in depth knowledge of wines and menu. We were informed of their Tuesday night wine special, a $10 discount off bottles. He knew when to politely walk away from our conversation to tend to other guests. He told us he had worked there over 3 years which shows they the Owner/Management takes care of their employees.
Food: Caprese salad with ripe tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese topped with fresh basil and balsamic reduction. Served with small side of mixed greens with shaved parmesan cheese adding value where one usually only gets the tomatoes and mozzarella. Filet tips on a skewer were perfectly prepared medium served with garlic butter and au poivre on side per my request because i had to try both. The garlic butter was obviously tasty, but the au poivre was perfectly peppery and buttery, I could just drink that stuff! Seared Ahi Tuna was perfectly rare (how it should be) accompanied by Asian slaw with Ponzu sauce, of which we ordered the half portion. We soon regretted not ordering the whole portion because it was so delicious! Finished with a slice of Salted Carmel cheesecake topped with chocolate candied bacon and took home a slice of pecan pie and vanilla ice cream. Their chef must be certified in the art of pastry because both were to die for. All in all a perfect meal from...
