The most egregious thing that happened to us and many other strangers was the owner endlessly skipping people’s songs on the TouchTunes machine. You know, the digital jukebox people PAID MONEY to wait to hear in a queue, some for over 20+ minutes. He didn’t want to hear your song? Skipped only a few seconds in, so that something HE queued would play more quickly. He would then only let his music play in its entirety. He would skip through multiple songs just to get to his, so no one got to hear their requests.
It was honestly ridiculous and we weren’t the only ones it happened to. None of the music that we or other customers queued was offensive or out of character for the setting either. They were classic rock songs that people were actually getting into/started dancing to when they came on, only to get skipped by the owner for one of HIS rock songs. We saw this happen at least 15+ times. These things aren’t cheap either to request, especially if you queued multiple songs. What makes this especially messed up is businesses that have these machines ALSO make a cut of money spent on songs requested. By skipping through music, they’re ensuring they make a larger cut by maximizing the amount of songs played in one evening. A skip is still considered a song played.
Newflash to the owner: if you don’t want people playing whatever they want, don’t have a jukebox. Get rid of it and play your own music through speakers like a normal restaurant. You are stealing people’s money through greed and wasting their time. It is honestly appalling and offensive how many people’s songs we saw queued and got skipped over in an hour+ period. I hope it was worth it, we won’t be back. This location is absolutely cursed and will probably go out of business soon like everything else that’s been there before. The best thing at this place were the waitresses working extra hard navigating in a completely chaotic and disorganized environment. They deserve a lot better than this place. So...
Read moreBeautiful place, lots of tv’s and friendly, attentive staff. My husband and I ordered the artichoke dip that was bland. It had minimal artichoke and was soupy. We actually asked for cheese dip because there were a ton of left over chips. We shared the pressed Italian sub. The flavor was there with a great crispy bread but there was a single thin slice of ham, a single thin slice of salami and a few thin medallions of pepperoni. Our tomato slice was thicker than all 3 meats put together. I actually pulled the bread off the top after my first bite to check if there was meat in it. Super disappointing. After mentioning it to our waitress she expressed how sorry she was and offered to exchange it for something else. We declined as we were already halfway through and the taste was good (with a hint of meat). There was no offer to bring more meat or remove from bill. We definitely would’ve paid for more meat just like we paid for more dipping cheese with the chips. When we got the bill there was even more disappointment as all we got was a sorry for the disappointing food. Draft beers were cold. Had high hopes for this place but sadly we most likely...
Read moreI go to The Lake 85 so often it's hard for me to pick out a particular experience; they are all very special. I'm from NJ and l miss my food. Good pizza is very hard to find in FL. One day l had a craving for pizza and l asked the bartender if the chef could make me a special pizza. Despite being busy, he did just that. It was the best pizza I've had since walking on the boardwalk at Seaside Heights NJ. The bartender, Corey, then suggested l try one of the many craft beers on tap. He then went out of his way to put one of their many TVs on the football game l couldn't find elsewhere. GO FSU! To borrow a line from "Cheers", The Lake 85 is a warm and wonderful place where "Everyone knows my name". A full menu featuring all of your favorites as well as daily specials, virtually any drink a person may desire and incredible...
