Cortez Cafe — Restaurant in Florida

Used to come here a couple times a week since it's close by. Usually order the same two things depending on what I'm in the mood for. I don't look at the total on the ticket because I already know how much it is. Went to pay and it was more than it is every time. Questioned the cashier about it and she gave me a little attitude. Didn't go back for a couple months. This was before the price increases. Next time I came in I mentioned it and the owner fixed my bill that day to compensate for it which was generous and I was appreciative of. Came in today and there was only 6-7 tables. Not much more than 2 or 3 tops. Some people had already eaten. Ordered the 2 eggs, hash and toast. After waiting for 25 mins I overheard someone at another table mention how long they've been waiting also. But the guy that came in 10 mins after I did already had his food. There was some to go orders also. Hopefully they aren't putting those first before in house tickets. So I left and I'm not coming back again. Seems like some of the new prices are kinda steep for a few things as well. Maybe they can use the money they make from that to fix the windows...

My family and I spent the weekend nearby and wanted to grab breakfast before we headed back home. I found this cafe on yelp and called ahead to check if there would be a wait for a party of 7 plus a toddler. The person that answered said there is currently no wait. I said great and ended the call. My family and I then decided to make our way over. We walked in and an older gentleman asked if we called ahead. I said yes, we did. I was blown away by this but the staff had been expecting us and had a table ready for us. I didn’t tell the person on the phone I was coming but was so happy to see that they anticipated our arrival. My wife, in laws and infant son were seated immediately. We already were happy with the great service and just knew the food would be just as good as the service. The staff was prompt and provided beverages in a timely manner. Food was ordered and served within a reasonable time. Food was great and everything we had hoped for. We definitely will be back to check out this cafe in the future as we visit Anna Maria...

We found this gem when visiting the fish market next door. When we popped our head in to check it out and the couple seated closet to the door told us they had done the same thing years back and then it became their favorite spot🥰 We went on a Sunday and they were busy but accomodating. Our pancake never made it to the table, unfortunately, everyone was talking about how good they were--we could have asked for it, but honestly we had so much food we didn't need it! Great spot where conversations are easy to have with the neighbors at the next table. We met two lovely couples while we were there. The Greek Eggs Benedict was flawless and the sausage gravy was well balanced so that everyone could enjoy (some may want to add heat or salt and pepper, but it was creamy and a good balance of meat to gravy) The scrambled eggs were just a tad over done and I might ask for peppers and onions in my potatoes next time just because I love a lot of flavors 😋 All in all a great diner experience and we will definitely come back...
