I've lived in Port St. John for years, many years, and had never visited this place until today. Boy, have I been missing out...
For our anniversary today, my wife and I were going to go to a different breakfast joint, but upon entering the plaza where I first choice was located we saw the sign for Daddy-O's and realized we had never visited the place. So, right there and right then we agreed to give it a shot. We were both glad we did.
When we got there the place was empty - we were their first patrons, at the very least, at that particular time in the morning. After being warmly greeted we were told we could sit anywhere, so we did. The menu is straightforward, unassuming, and uncluttered. Breakfast items we all know and love and some other surprises I've never heard of. No matter, my wife had their two-egg build-your-own style, while I had their Tornado Burrito - we each added a pancake for good measure (and with blueberries).
The breakfast items are made to order - nice touch - and we were served with about the amount of wait you would expect. Both items arrived at the table hot, fresh, and delicious. We downed our entire breakfast and enjoyed every bite.
Service was super friendly, the waitress had a nice dry-wit about her that made talking to her fun. Since the place was small and homey, we ended up sparking up some conversation with the other patrons that arrived after us.
Prices were incredibly low - I was surprised how little I paid for the amount of food offered. I would gladly pay more. Anyway, the place had a USA and military themed decor about it. A perfect place to bring our youngest sons who are currently serving when they visit later this year.
Anyone in town who will listen to me I will tell them this is their breakfast stop in town -...
Read moreWhat can I say, I love this little diner, so much that we came back a second time before heading south. We stayed local in a camp ground with our class B while we were visiting Kennedy Space Center. We were looking for a local breakfast place, not the side of the highway fast food breakfast, but a true diner. We Found Daddy O's Diner just down from our camp site. It's in a strip mall type of building, it's small but you cant miss it with its red white and blue sign and the banner of American flags. The diner itself it a homage to the men and woman who have served and fought for our country. It was nice to see the patriotism. It was also very comfortable and the staff were friendly. I have to say, Im a creature of habit and usually order some egg breakfast but decided on the S.O.S (chipped beef on toast), and it was just like mom use to make. It was so good, I ordered it the next day, along with a side of buttery grits. We also had a Torpedo Burrito, which was ordered a second time also. If you're in the area and want a great diner breakfast, stop at Daddy O's, you won't be...
Read moreI had breakfast there with my brother, mother, and a family friend. My brother and I both ordered the Big + Sloppy (small) and we agreed that it was a very filling meal to sit and enjoy. It was surprisingly empty when we arrived, but as 10:30 rolled around, people started filling the booths and chairs. It was rather lively around that time, and even before then, the staff was fantastic and extremely friendly! Midway through our meal, the chef came out and asked us how we were enjoying it, and I was stuffing my mouth so I couldn't tell him exactly how much I loved it. It gave me a sort of nostalgic feeling of a time that I didn't even grow up in, and I really loved that. I think the place deserves way more business because it is definitely worth every penny spent. I absolutely loved my experience and will, no doubt, be returning again down the road. And the art hanging on the walls made for a great conversation! I plan on writing an art review for my art class. So thank you Daddy O's for the delicious meal and the...
