Read moreI end up going here when my first choice gluten free place is closed. EVERY time I go, service is SLOW and INATTENTIVE. Servers ignore empty glasses, are only available when the check or food is ready. Servers will walk past your empty glass to refill someone else's because you're NOT THEIR TABLE. Servers will ignore the universal symbol of ready to order (menus closed) because you're NOT THEIR TABLE. And if they do take pity on you and take your order, they will tell you that you're NOT THEIR TABLE - as if they're doing you a favor. Also, leaving glasses right side up on tables is against health code. (Tableware should be stored to protect the edge that comes in contact with the mouth and to present the handle to employees or customers). Cups and glasses should always be stored upside down to prevent contaminants from falling in. Not to mention, even if it's not used, that glass still has to be washed! Gross.
About the food, generally it's ok. I do find the prices a little high for what you get. I order over medium eggs and they flip them, so the outside is tough, but the whites in side are still liquid. Gross. And the macadamia sauce they offer with pancakes tastes like corn syrup - cloyingly sweet. The gluten free pancakes are very grainy, but seem undercooked. Gross, again. The coffee always tastes burnt or old, I've stopped ordering it.
I think if they hired a decent manager here it could do well. But the current staff doesn't care about customer service or retention...
Read moreI've been wanting to try this place for a long time since I have a gluten and dairy allergy, and they have a lot of options on the menu. I ordered the gluten-free and vegan pancakes, which tasted great. However, I did experience some stomach discomfort later on. Maybe cross contamination? I own a business and know how hard it is. Especially in the hospitality industry. I really love to hand out 5 star reviews. The only reason I'm writing this is to address what I believe is a huge health concern. The older lady that I am assuming is the owner was walking around the restaurant with a dog. She was helping customers and going into the back, which is usually where the kitchen is. Looked like a cute puppy and was well behaved, but dogs should NEVER be inside a food establishment. The health department actually recommends that all food establishments are completely pet free, including those of the customers. But the owners of the businesses are able to make their own rules. And, of course, medically necessary animals are allowed in the dining areas only per state laws. I'm highly allergic to animals and was having a minor allergic reaction as I was sitting in the dining area. I couldn't figure out why I was having an allergic reaction until I realized the owner had the dog in a shoulder bag. I was really surprised. Just not sanitary. I hope they reconsider having the dog onsite, especially in the food preparation areas. Because of this, I...
