Had an hour before our flight so we thought we’d have time to get a drink and nachos. Server was a little slow getting around to taking the order, but fine it’s an airport. I asked for the check when we put in the order just in case.
Our drinks came just fine, but where was the food? A plate of nachos is not a difficult or time consuming dish by any stretch of the imagination, especially an airport plate that’s thrown together and broiled. We’re not looking for quality, we just want to eat.
After 20 minutes, it’s clear tables that ordered after us are being served. Served with protein bowls, sandwiches, and other dishes that need more than a spoon and a broiler. After 30 minutes, it’s clear the server is literally hiding from us. Maybe he forgot to ring in the order. Maybe the kitchen lost it and he had to push for it. Either way, his choice to duck away every time we try to get his attention for now 45 minutes was ridiculous.
I finally find him and tell him to just cancel the $20 nachos, and he assures me they’re about to come out. At this point I don’t care, our plane (the closest gate thankfully) is on boarding zone 3. Other people have come, eaten, and gone while we’ve been waiting, so I request a refund. He refuses, and then refuses my request for a manager. Apparently they’ve been looking for the manager, and suspect that she/he is at the Sbarro in another terminal?? The server tells me I can call the corporate number instead and hope they can refund me. He then proceeds to glare at me as I fill out the check and leave a couple bucks for the drinks. Unbelievable on every level, and now I get to console my hungry and irritated guests on the flight.
Bottom line, I paid for food. I did not receive food. They did everything they could to weasel out of refunding me, until I had no choice but to get on my flight. A scam of a restaurant with...
Read moreThe Dewars Clubhouse happened to be right across from my gate so I decided to grab a quick bite before boarding. While the food was excellent, "quick" was not a word I would use to describe my experience. First, I stood patiently at the "please wait to be seated" sign for probably close to 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged that I was standing there and I wasn't until a half dozen more people joined me in like that someone came over to seat us. There was the typical QR menu to scan and order from. Perfect. Only no one had "activated " my table, so I had to flag down a waitress to do that. Then the phone ordering didn't work, so she just took my order the old fashioned way. Since I had to wake so one to be seated, I missed the breakfast menu, which ended at 10am, but that was okay since there were plenty of sandwich options on the lunch menu to choose from. I waited a considerable amount of time for my lemonade. I do have to say that the waitress didn't stop moving. She had her hands full with non-working qr codes etc. My chicken quesadilla finally arrived and was really really good. The chicken was nicely spiced and well cooked. Beans, onions and corn added nice flavor and texture as did the melted cheese. It came with small containers of sour cream and salsa. Both good. Other food that went by also looked good. Burgers , fries etc. Fortunately I had plenty of time to eat, then flag the waitress down to ask for my check as she hurried to clear tables, before my flight boarded. All in all, if you're not in a hurry, you'll probably enjoy a nice meal, but staffing and electronic issues made my visit less than 5 stars. Although for airport food, it was well above average. Read moreFlight delays can be a GOOD thing! Chin up! Hit Dewar's for fun company, solid food, and well, the"vibrant" airport atmosphere - mostly very happy people traveling on vacation, visiting family, attending weddings, running drugs (just checking to see if you are paying attention). ANYWAY, Ashley and Trish were among the many welcoming, attentive Dewar's crew, making sure your every (food and beverage) needs were met. (And, btw, Trish gives great cooking tips). I ordered a caeser salad with mahi, no croutons, dressing on the side. The romaine lettuce was crisp and fresh, the dressing was light, and the mahi was both firm and flaky, moist and meaty. More than (even I) could put away! (Had to save room and calories for ONE MORE sauvignon blanc, after another flight delay). My well-traveled (thus far sober) neighbors at the bar to the left said their chicken nachos were GREAT. My equally well traveled bar neighbors to the right gave a less than stellar review of their chicken nugs (with multiple sauces), HOWEVER, I did notice they left no scrapings for the kitchen crew. TIP: If you are feeling generous, hand your QR Code block to others at the bar. It hold the menu and it also charges directly to your account, if you ordered from that block. Oops. Nothing like Nebraska nice! (Actually, staff caught this so my card was not charged for my new bar friends)! Gotta love it. Stop in to Dewar's for a...
