UPDATE: Yesterday I was forced to come back and it was worse than I thought. This is what in Spanish we call an "antro". First, the space is small for the crowd size it admits. I would say that the risk of a catastrophe is enormous. I don't think this would pass a Fire Dept inspection. Second, quality is nowhere to be found, not in the food, the service, the tables and chairs or the MC. Third, people are allowed to drink so much that you can see the most ridiculous behaviors. Fourth, the noise is so unbearable that your only option is start jumping to it. Finally, I would be remiss if I don't say that the exception was this girl dressed in a cute red "gipsy" outfit. She was courteous, soft spoken and very helpful. Unfortunately I did not catch her name. Thank you gipsy girl!
On Sunday we went to this so called fonda to celebrate a friend's birthday. At the entrance they have 4 thugs patting down all men and opening women's bags. Not a welcoming start. That tells you something about the place. But the most ridiculous thing was that they don't allow people in shorts or sandals! Yeah, in Florida. Of course a few of us were wearing such garments. We tried common sense but stupidity is stronger in large numbers. They preferred to lose our business, mind you we were a group of 20, than stopping being discriminatory and abusive. In the end, we decided not to tolerate the nonsense and went to El Patio were there were no thugs at the door but friendly hosts who would not discriminate their customer. At El Patio we had a great time until 3:00 am. Their food is great, plenty of drinks and good live music. We don't understand why a business discriminates so blatantly and makes 20 clients to swear to never come back and tell others as well not to do it. Hurray for shorts and...
Read moreVery disappointing! Visiting from Boston, MA and Medellin and expecting a superb service just like their locations in Medellin. They have a tremendous reputation in Medellin but unfortunately, not the case for this location in Miami. When we asked for a menu, the server never provided one despite the fact that he made some recommendations, therefore we had no idea of prices and other options. The food that we ordered was a super generic and did not have the authentic Colombian taste. You can tell the chorizos are from the freezer and the empanadas had a very poor taste as well as the chicharrones. Not to mention how overpriced it was for such a generic food.
Also the server was pushy and wanted us to order quick because he was going to be too busy. We placed the order, paid right away and through out our stay, even though we've already paid, he never bothered once on checking to see if we needed something else. In addition to this, we made a request that was never addressed properly.
Not to mention that we went to this location to watch our beloved Nacional play as it was highly recommended but what a disappointment. Could barely concentrate or enjoy the game with the loud music that should've been played during the halftime, not during the entire game.
The decoration pretty much what a Fonda should look like. Good points on...
Read moreWe were there a birthday celebration Sept 21 they had a bottle special for $99 never mentioned you had a minimum of spend $30 per person. We also had 2 bottles of water which were pint size Kirkland water for $6 each and 2 margaritas for $40. Asked for id & cc to keep tab open and can not close even if you tell them charge what we ordered already. We had to ask for id back because no need to keep id and cc. At end of the night waitress said you owe over $50 because the margaritas in your table your guest wish to pay themselves and could not validate those charges to add to a minimum consume fee per guest for $30 each x 7 guest. Finally I said you can do that and she said ok agreed that we could pay separately. Music was good but the charges and the way they try to trick you into extra charges be careful. What about outrages price of $6 pint size cheap plastic Kirkland Costco water that in a 40 units at Costco only cost around $5-6 . This fee they charge for this water should be at least premium. Best thing to do is say you need table for 3 and buy $90 bottle. That covers the $30 per person minimum consumption. Good to go. However we will never go there again. Latin people taking advantage of other Latin people who won’t...
