Decided to go to Gigi’s a second time, and was a disaster. 1st time was issues with unknowledgeable and inefficient service. Sending wrong food and long wait. Asked to kids pizza first so didn’t have to wait. Didn’t come first came at same time as other food and got order wrong. Food under seasoned and unimpressed for what we read about the reviews. Most reviews were, I believe exaggerated and must be left by friends or family, just saying. We wanted to try because of the ambience and it is close to our home. We went to try again and had numerous issues. The most consistent thing about the restaurant is lack up service. Not hospitable, when we had the first issue they stood in the middle of the restaurant and pointed and just talked about us. The first issue was we asked to get a pizza right away for kids. Then we ordered drinks which took a while to get and then didn’t bring the kids drinks. Then we add our food to the order and again mentioned we want kids drinks and said send out kids food first. Still no food for kids and they send out our calamari ( under seasoned and served with no lemon) and our salads, which lettuce and tomatoes almost warm. Salad needs to be cold. Once we finished that, they cleared the plate. Still no pizza. During the time of waiting we finished our first carafe of wine and we just poured our 2nd bottle and there was old basil in our wine carafe and outside felt dirty. We asked to get a new one and the staff made seem no big deal something in wine. We just wanted a quick apology, new glasses and new wine. Done. It was made weird situation and new was brought over but with no glasses so we had to wait there and wave for attention to get new glasses, again just expected a decent apology. Then we not only made it uncomfortable about the wine sending back but then made it a money issue. We came here to enjoy the setting. After the wine issue happened we got the entrée and then a few moments late the pizza showed up at this time, we were frustrated and upset with their attitude and lack of empathy. Just said wrap all food up and we are going to leave. Still no apology. The owner I’m assuming, was very rude to us, disrespectful to my wife and it was quite embarrassing for this happen in a small restaurant in our little town as well place was busy and very close tables to each other. More people piled in for takeout food as well. No social distancing at all. When we got home we tried the food. On top of terrible experience in the restaurant, we came home and had bad food. Literally the eggplant was bad/ almost spoiled smell and taste. Couldn’t eat that. Pizza was not good. Not cooked enough on bottom and too doughy. Veal Parm was thick and too much breading. As well as the chicken Parm. Again with all the food, I don’t think they use salt. To be a local restaurant they should try hard to retain guests, not make it them feel bad. I would strongly suggest another restaurant in the area. There are several. The best part is that they believe they are traditional Italian food. Not only could it not be compared, it can’t event compete with any low caliber Italian restaurant in New York. Hard...
Read moreFood was a little bit pricey for what it was. Average quality. Average size portions. Was extremely busy. We had carryout. I come from an Italian family where everyone knows how to cook. The only reason that we didn't have this meal made at home was because it was for my birthday. Everyone has different tastes and everyone has different opinions. I don't mean to offend anyone with mine. That is why I made sure to mention that it was a very busy place. Since it's very busy then I would assume that many people enjoy the food there. I'm pretty sure that they don't care who you know or where the food came from as long as it's tasty and affordable. I was surprised when I received notification from Google that the owner had replied to my review,. It drew my attention back to reading the response and then drew me into reading other reviews and responses.
Now this will be my 3 rd edit. After reading the mixed reviews and the responses from the owner, I'm extremely regretful that I chose to spend any money to patronize this restaurant. Fortunately or unfortunately the world doesn't run like it did 75 years ago.... When you own or work for a business that serves the public, part of your responsibility is public relations. If you take every review that is not 100% in your favor and turn around and attack the customer then you're better off either not working for the public or not reading your reviews. Italians cook with passion .We put our emotions into our food... This should be with love warmth and well wishes. The toxins spewed out of the person that responds to these reviews gave me heartburn and nightmares. And to say " God bless" is heresy and hypocritical. I'm fairly sure we should still love our neighbors whether they like our cooking or not? Everyone should be treated courteously and with respect. If your responses are your" example" You are setting for the future generations that you're leaving the business to, I guarantee You're not setting them up...
Read moreCame across this restaurant after my first choice closed early for Super Bowl Sunday. Upon arriving, the signage said they’ve been around since 1973. I’ve lived in the area for 21 years and disappointed that I didn’t stop here before. There is another sign on the door advising that they accept cash only. The inside is a little outdated and dark. The chairs are straight wood with no cushioning. That being said, the restaurant checks off on rule number 1 for any restaurant; the food must taste good. We ordered the chicken parmigiana which came with ziti, chicken marsala, and a 14” pizza. The entrees came a salad and garlic rolls. The balsamic dressing for the salad was excellent, although the salad was a little too simple with just onions, shredded lettuce, and a few chunks of tomatoes. The garlic knots were good, but not great. Both the chicken marsala and chicken parmigiana tasted excellent. Just wish the portions were bigger for the price. The marsala did not come with any pasta or a side dish. You have to pay extra for it. Since the portions were small and we were still hungry we ordered a small pizza. We were very impressed with the pizza. The sauce was not overpowering and the crust was nice and thin. Service was excellent. The server was the grandson of the founder and did a great job taking care of 4 tables himself. I will definitely return...
