Girafa's Sports GRILL — Restaurant in Florida

Tonight was my first time going here after seeing this place all over social media & everyone bragging about the drinks. Everyone was very friendly & the place is clean. However, our waiter was VERY unknowledgeable about menu & drinks (there's no drink menu btw). We informed him that it was our first time there & we wanted to try the sex on the beach margarita (per his recommendation). It was good so we tried something else. First, an strawberry margarita - that was disgusting & had entirely too much syrup. Second, a mojito - that was less than satisfactory as well & the mint was an complete overkill. We had 2 appetizers, carne y arepa queso & chicken empanadas. Both were tasty & came out in a reasonable time of being ordered. I ordered the beef fried rice, which was also very tasty. The meat was tender & easy to chew. My counterpart ordered shrimp tacos that she seemed to enjoyed. This place is nice but I've had way better quality food & customer service from other local eateries. It's a nice place to go just to get out, but if you don't go, you're definitely not missing anything. Another thing that also affected my rating is with us advising our waiter that we didn't like his other drink recommendations, you would think he would take it off of our total bill but it was not. This was my first and last time going to this establishment. They advertised a promotion online for $1 margaritas so a few of my coworkers and I went after work. We called before going to make sure this promotion was still going on we were told yes until 3 a.m. so we go and have a few drinks and order some food. When it's time for us to pay the bill imagine our shock when we see $82 dollars. We were charged $7 dollars per margarita and when we questioned it our waitress tried saying that promotion was only until 7pm keep in mind we called at 9:45 to double check. Twenty minutes later she comes back to say it was only the lime margaritas and they were served in different cups. Well I don't know about you but if we're running a special and customers come in asking for that item and you have certain ones for the special one would think you would ask if we wanted the ones on special! So she agrees to change it to the promotional price. And comes back with our new bill. Now they have conveniently put a automatic gratuity charge of almost $12.00 on a $18.00 bill. I liked the food but this is not a bad point for this place but, I was charged with the updated prices for the meal but the menu still reflected the old price being that the case at least when my parents owned a restaurant.If the price was erroneous on the menu and correct on the POS system my parents would always honor the old price on the menu even though it was a small loss to the restaurant itself. I understand in times of COVID everything went up in price everywhere but it is not a matter of the price but of the principle if the price haven't been adjusted on YOUR menu honor the price that one time to the customer. Other than that the portions are generous for the price, piece of advice the desserts are not worth the price being charged. The service staff is friendly and welcoming.The atmosphere beckons of a Latin nightclub which surprises me that the owners don't work that angle of the place, given that they have an excellent floor space setup for working it as a small scale nightclub.
