Gretchen's Goodies — Restaurant in Florida

It's a great place for those who love dessert cups. They have just about every pie, cake, or cheesecake flavor combination imaginable. It's actually a very cool concept for travelers, or anyone who wants a little something sweet.

My visit was in August 2023. I was greeted right away by a very nice & knowledgeable young man. I wish I could remember his name. He was very helpful. He explained the deals and rewards, and gave me a menu. I decided to go with Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Cream Pie, and the Coconut Lime Cake. I wasn't in love with the CPBB Cream Pie. The bananas just didn't taste fresh, and it was all rather mushy. I liked the Coconut Lime Cake flavor and texture. I just thought that the cream cheese frosting was overly sweet. I shared both with my husband. Neither one of us was able to eat it all in one sitting. It's a big portion, and maybe too rich of a frosting.

Again, it's a good concept. It just wasn't for me. However, I do want to try the keto dessert cups one day. I thought it was great that there are low sugar dietary options. They have cheesecake flavors in blueberry, chocolate, lemon, key lime, strawberry, peanut butter, and pumpkin spice. Some of these may be seasonal. It's just something to note if you happen to be on a keto diet.

This place was amazing and I’m glad I stopped in even though it was in a gas station. The service was unbelievable people might say customer service supposed to be great (however with other places that’s not usually the case) but this place is amazing! Amanda P Was so welcoming and loving I swear I thought she was the owner! I do have a small thing I would like to say as far as the desserts go so that way it’s out there. I got a white raspberry chocolate cheesecake and it was really good. The only thing I would change is for the raspberry portion of it they use a raspberry jam. It seems to be, and I don’t think that goes with the dessert Personally it’s a bit sour But I scraped that part off to be honest, and it was amazing next I got a tres leches cake It was so flavorful. The only thing is the cake needs a little bit more milk I’d say for that one personally because typical tres leche cakes have some milk towards the bottom Now, besides those two little small things like I said, these were amazing and I’m a huge, dessert guy. Don’t let the fact that Gretchen’s Goodies is in a gas station deter you from going in for a gourmet dessert cup. This is not your regular gas station. When you walk in, if you listen really closely, you can hear the “aahhhh” of singing angels 😁 as your eyes scan 😳 the expansive choices in the display cases. 😋

So far, I’ve tried the Key Lime Pie, Apple Crisp Pie, and Cookie Butter Pie. If you love the Biscoff cookies that Delta gives as snacks in their flights, you will love the Cookie Butter Pie. My #1 favorite is the Key Lime Pie. I haven’t had any yet that I wouldn’t buy again, but there is such a variety, I want to try something different each time.

According to the sign above the dessert cases, the owners of Gretchen’s Goodies also own the entire Zoom Zoom in which they are located. They make all of the dessert cups in-house, from scratch, using quality ingredients. They are worthy of being in Hyde Park Village, Armature Works, and Sparkman Wharf, but we are lucky to have them right here, hidden in a gas station in Gibsonton. Don’t miss trying them!
