Grounding Roots is a special business; they claim to serve the community in their health and wellness goals, but neglects what it takes to achieve those goals. I was a customer here for a year, inviting all my friends and my family until I decided to work for the business as they promoted employment opportunities through the text-reward system, just to emphasize that if it wasn't in my face - I wouldn't have ever attempted to work for these people. When it comes to the juice, sure, enjoy it - it's $12 a bottle and all organic, wonderful stuff and great for you. I spent a lot of money at GR while I was in medical recovery.
Despite the ethos of wellness - I have a disability which I notified the owner, about and I was terminated on the spot for being 3 minutes late (after a year of employment) despite the employee handbook stating a 5-minute grace period, causing me to suddenly scramble for employment; this came exactly one week after I disclosed a situation that I was invited to share to induce a safer work environment as a manager had just been removed for failing to maintain those ethical and cultural standards, was making people uncomfortable, and overall facilitating a hostile work environment. The words being used to describe this environment were "enablement" and "complicity."
I shared an incident that occurred several months prior in the presence of a former juicer with another store-owner. He reached out to essentially, feel my entire bicep. I'm not sure if that qualifies as sexual harassment but I definitely felt abit harassed. I quickly told him to put his hands up and started throwing air-fists, like I was shadowboxing; he had a look of surprise on his face, and our interaction ended there - seemingly friendly. For me, this was self-defense. I think it's silly I have to even provide more context for this but, I have been bodybuilding for over 10 years and never has any individual, especially not a man, has ever reached out to feel up my entire bicep. It was incredibly invasive and uninvited - I was extremely uncomfortable afterwards but tried not to think much of it. After that, it was demonstrated to me that professional standards would not be upheld at GR and this was confirmed to be the case after I was suddenly terminated, and overall communication had always been lacking making it difficult for an objective assessment of workplace performance - nothing was ever in writing, no method of record keeping. The storefront labor force of GR consists of all females, if not most, aged 16-24. Again, this came EXACTLY one week after I had shared this information - and there was a shift in behavior from both store owners. For me and my grievance, I would call this enablement.
When I shared this with her, she went onto of course, apologize for it having occurred, and I was careful to mention that I did not want to misinterpret it. I will not share more information regarding prior instances of occurrences in a similar nature, because that it is in fact what was immediately relayed back to me, so as to create some sense of absolution by way of a misinterpreted, "friendly" touch. I would have never granted consent for this even if he was my coach.
It's a small-business, so you may have met the store owners and have had atleast one prolonged interaction with them. It might feel like you are being sized up, as a member of my family mentioned to me. This is serving as a PSA. I will not be returning with...
Read moreThey offer a lot of high quality and organic snacks, foods, juices, drinks, and smoothies. You can't go wrong with anything in here.
Super good coffee (The Balanced Brew). Taste is great. It's the only coffee I've had where it doesn't leave a a small bitter or lingering coffee taste in your mouth. It goes down just as smoothly as any of the grounding roots juices, even though it uses oat milk. Most of not all the ingredients are organic and are high quality. The drinks come in a glass bottle as well, which is a nice touch for those who collect bottles. My family that I let try it also say the balanced brew is really good.
I also like pretty much all of their drinks. None of them taste weird or bad and all have similarly high quality or organic ingredients. No added sugar, all natural sugars from the ingredients, which are all listed on the bottles and their website. They all also come in glass bottles too.
I can't speak on the food as I haven't had it, but man does it sound tasty. The food and drinks are expensive. So if you're not into healthy foods and just want a sugar drink or food that isn't fast food, just realise this place might not be for you. But it's all high quality and feels that way too. What you pay for, feels like what you get. I personally can't afford to do a weekly subscription or get juice here every week, but it's so nice when I get some. Also neat that the subscription drinks have free delivery within 25 miles I believe.
It's a small store but the staff are always pleasant and will let you sample juices if you're not sure on certain drinks. If it's out of your price range, it is still a good experience for the one time. Give it a shot (no pun intended, because they have juice wellness shots as well), and you'll enjoy...
Read moreNot only is the vibe in here is so relaxing but the juices, smoothies, açaí bowls are delicious and on top of that healthy! A friend mentioned about this place and how they serve natural base smoothies and drinks for recovery! The first time my husband and I tried the smoothies on their menu! Don't remember the name! But it has peanut butter in it! My second time coming in I had just finished a workout and had mentioned to the staff member in the front that I was sore and she recommended the stamina smoothie which has banana, peanut butter, cacao, protein powder, maca and coconut water I believe OMG so good!! It definitely helped a lot ! I came in another day after a workout and they didn't have the stamina :( since it sells so fast! I ended up grabbing a strength smoothie and it was just as good! I love that they have crystals and apothecary items I purchased the magnesium spray for myself and for my husband who has sciatica! Staff member mentioned it was great for pain and a best seller! So far it is true! I highly recommend this place if you are looking for some healthy organic...
