I went through the drive through for what I thought would be a common ritual...make a payment, get my pizza. Easy, right?! Well, my first mistake was to ask to split my payment. (Who knew if basic math gets involved, it gets very complicated 🤔) This very complex math was this.... My total order came to $21.70. I asked the cashier to charge $10 to my debit card and I will pay the remainder in cash. She said "yeah, you can do that." at which point I hand her my debit card. She takes it and says, "I need to take the cash now and then I will run your card next." I said no problem and handed her (and this is DEFINITELY where I made the mistake... you guessed it, math was involved) $22.00. I said I need a $10 bill back, so Im going to give you $22.00. Silly me was expecting $10.30 change and my card back. The girl smiles, hands me $0.30 change and my card. I immediately asked where my $10 was to which the girl responded "oh, I took it all out of the cash you gave me. I was a bit baffled, but said, okay, no problem and handed her back my card and said charge the $10 then and give me the $10 cash. At this point, confused, the girl said she had no idea how to do that and needed to get a manager. This manager guy comes over and the cashier explains the situation. The manager sat there staring blankly at the screen for almost a full minute like he had no idea what to do. I attempted to re-explain the situation, at which point he immediately snapped at me and said "yeah, yeah, I get what's going on". He then tells the cashier to give me $12. And she does. At this point, ImI confused. Now I have $12.30. He then tells her, he made a mistake, to get the $12 back from me. So, I have hand it back. He then said get the $0.30 back from her too. I had thrown the $0.30 at the bottom of my purse and was trying to find it and asked him why he was making me dig in the dark for $0.30 just to hand it right back to me. I again said all you need to do is charge $10 to my card and give me $10 cash. What is so hard. At this point the manager is shaking in anger. He told the cashier to hand me $22 and my card back and basically threw the pizza at me and said loudly " here it's free" ... We drove off in shock at our experience. We ended up going home and eating the pizza. All I can say is thank goodness it was free, because it was the worst pizza I have ever had from them. I normally have a good experience and they are local. Totally rethinking convenience in the future after today's experience. I cannot believe the ignorance of today. And that is what they feel represents a good...
Read moreI've been a long time customer with this particular Hungry Howies and have enjoyed their pizza many times. However, today has made me change my view on how they treat their customers, especially over the phone. So I tried to directly call them like I usually do to place my order. Normally they're happy to take it without any problems but today I was completely ignored. The first call was an instant hang up, the second call resulted in a please hold and they left me on hold for a good ten minutes before hanging me up again. The third and fourth time resulted in another hang up and I was beginning to become frustrated. For the fifth call, I went through their usual call center which I normally don't do because every time I place my order through them, the associate always seems to get it wrong no matter how many times I say it which is why I call the establishment directly. At first I placed my order as usual but as stated before, the person that was assisting me was getting my order wrong again and was talking so fast that their words were blurring together. By that point, I decided to cancel my order asked if they could transfer me to a manager which they were nice enough to do. Unfortunately I was connected to one of the workers there. I asked if I could speak to a manager, in which I was asked why. I explained to them that I had tried to call them directly and I was repeatedly ignored or hanged up on. The worker seemed insulted as his tone changed, saying that their "system was down" and that there was no way for them to take orders and that's the reason why the call center was there. If that was the case, how are they able to receive orders if their system is down? That doesn't make any sense.
I wanted to argue with this worker but by that point, I realized I was wasting too much time I didn't have and my family was getting restless about food. So I simply accepted their bogus response, hung up, and went to find food somewhere else.
I love the pizza this establishment makes and I had NEVER EVER had problems with them. They have always been so nice. However, this experience has left me feeling quiet upset. I don't think I will be returning to them for a while.
Another nitpick but if they are going to continue having call centers handle the orders, they really need to hire workers that can at least understand and speak properly ... it always seems like there is some kind of language barrier I have hurdle through. Which is why I've always called the...
Read moreI am SOOOOoooo disapointed. I have ordered from this location 4 x's now and have been EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED Every Time. What is WRONG with this Business. They need someone to come in an retrain ALL Staff and MANAGMENT. or they deserve to be shut down. First Experience was a greasy and Disgusting excuse for a Combo SUB Second visit- Pizza was flat and BURNT! Third TIME- Cold and dripping with GREASE (HOW is That even possible?!) Fourth and FINAL!- Ordered TWO combination Pizza Subs and their was LITERALLY "NO CHEESE" on Either!!!! What a HORRIBLE PLACE OF BUSINESS
I used to live in Riverview, Who has the most exceptional Hungry Howies until I moved here to Valrico. Now with repeated dissatisfaction, I will never go to the VALRICO LOCATION HUNGRY HOWIES ever EVER AGAIN! Good Luck Not getting Shut DOwn for POOR QUALITY FOOD AND SERVICE. WORD TO THE WISE___ order from RIVERVIEW and make the Drive___ it is worth having good tasting pizza.
ALSO.. talked to the Manager on the last disapontment (NO CHEESE) and he was not very apologetic. He said he just hired NEW STAFF and they were not Trained yet Entirely on cooking and prepping. He said "I should be more understanding in this re-guard." and that he will put a NOTE on my account to have a MANAGER make my PIzza next Time.. (NO CHANCE BRO-SUFF!!!) I have managed and ran a very SATISFACTORY pizza biz (Westshore) for 5 yrs and that is not good business .. however I still LOVE Hungry Howies Taste... I am just appalled at the ignorance that is flooding the Valrico Store.
I hope this review help the locals from making a huge mistake. Demand excellence and perhaps a Manger will make your pizza.
