I've been here about 3 times and each time seems to be less enjoyable. I know that there is limited seating which is why they don't do reservations. I get it. But when you have a party of 4 and one couple arrives early by 5-10 mins you will be told that you can't be sat until the other couple arrives. But when your party only consists of 4 people and most of your tables and booths are 4 tops... really? We were told it was because of wanting a quick turn around and limited seating. The problem with this is a few things: There is no quick turn around. People are eating, talking, and hanging out. That's what friends do at dinner time. Because of the limited amount of tables, they fill up quickly as you're made to wait on friends who are just running a few minutes behind (literally just a few minutes). We were also told that if we were originally sat as a couple (2 people) and some friends showed up after we were sat (another couple) they would NOT be able to join us at our table because of turn around time, which makes no sense. They don't limit your time at the tables and that same couple would be occupying ANOTHER table anyways! Lastly, when we WERE asking about all of this, the lady speaking to us just seemed annoyed and very unfriendly. For what you have to pay to eat dinner there I expected a little more professionalism and friendliness. By the time we finally got in, I was already turned off by her attitude. I don't mind spending that kind of money on good food, but I also want and expect better customer service.
With that being said, I will be spending my money some place else where I can enjoy my dinner and time out with friends.
Update: So apparently customers are NOT allowed to ask questions about your policies? You may call it GRILLING, but those are actually called questions. That's what people do when they don't necessarily agree with or understand your policies. Her rudeness started with the very first question. YOUR response just made it completely clear why your employees act the way they act. Thank you for...
Read moreMy wife and I had heard great things about Hunt and Gather over the last few months. She decided to take me out for my birthday and what a great experience. We had just traveled back from Chicago for the weekend where we had gone to a "Fancy" Steakhouse and spent over $500 for that meal for three of us and honestly, I would go to Hunt and Gather again and again over the "Best steakhouse in Chicago" The filet was melt in your mouth and only took two knife strokes and you were through it. The flavor was out of this world and the sides were amazing! We also ordered the Elk burger and hands down top 3 best burgers I have ever eaten in my life!!! We also had the fired Okra and that two was amazing pairing all of that with a bottle of Amarone from 2020 was the cherry on top. David took great care of us and even gave us a little show and sang happy birthday for me. We instantly felt like this was the place for us and we will continue to come back. Y'all won yourselves a couple more loyal patrons!!! I didn't catch her name but the female behind the bar was also the silent hero and watching her put the desserts together and the creme Brule cheesecake was to die for! If you like to watch the kitchen staff work as we do the end of the bar is the best place for that! But you cannot forget the kitchen staff! They absolutely knocked it out of the ballpark with their entrees!
A well-oiled machine where everyone seemed to work well together and you could tell their team at Hunt and Gather knows what they're doing!
I almost don't want to tell people about this restaurant and keep it to myself, but everyone needs to know how amazing this little gem of PCB is!
On a side note, they're also opening up a Martini bar next-door.
--- The only could be negative would be that it's a small establishment and they cannot accommodate larger groups. Which is good to keep the noise down and intimate but bad if you're that larger group looking for an amazing place to...
Read moreMy sisters and I dined here for dinner, not knowing what to expect, and I can confidently say we’ll be going back. The menu offers an impressive variety of small plates perfect for sharing, making it a delightful experience for groups.
We started with the Cheese Board, which was beautifully curated. It featured honeycomb, Spanish almonds, two types of olives, sweet red peppers, pickled vegetables, a soft and creamy Robiola cheese, Point Reyes Bleu Cheese, Goat Milk Gouda, blackberry jam, crackers, and more. Each bite was a perfect blend of flavors, and together, it was simply fantastic.
Next, we tried the Flash-Fried Brussels Sprouts, which were served with pancetta, toasted pecans, a honey vinaigrette, and shredded Pecorino cheese. As someone who’s loved Brussels sprouts my entire life, I can confidently say these were the best I’ve ever had—I even need their recipe!
We also indulged in the Bone Marrow Canoes, decadently topped with pickled herbs and served with slices of bread. Two of us devoured them without hesitation! The Red Snapper Ceviche was another standout, marinated in citrus juice and perfectly balanced with jalapeños, cilantro, and red onion. We couldn’t get enough of its refreshing flavors.
To top it all off, one of us ordered the 8 oz Filet Mignon, which was cooked to absolute perfection. It was served with a silky potato purée, the most flavorful carrots I’ve ever tasted, and a rich Cabernet sauce. The filet was so tender it could be cut with a fork and melted in your mouth.
Although this restaurant is known for its elk, bison, and boar dishes, the filet was an outstanding choice. Every dish was flawlessly executed—nothing could be faulted.
Our server, Jade, was exceptional. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the experience even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for phenomenal food, impeccable service, and a memorable dining experience, this is the place to go. We can’t...
