The decor was inviting, and simple. Though, this wasnt an experience I was expecting by the looks. Initially, we didnt know the sushi stop and the asian bistro were the same restaurant. It looks separate from outside, but it is the same. Which is fine. However both me and my wife were taken aback by the food. It wasnt bad, but a little different than what we expected. For starters, we both ordered the clear soup. Normally, clear soup is...well, clear. Its normally just broth with crispy onions and sometimes mushroom. However, we got the clear soup with seaweed in it, which the seaweed took away the flavor of the broth and tasted a lot like miso. If you would have added tofu to this soup, it would basically be miso, which isnt what we were wanting. The wife got curry, which was good. When we asked the waiter if it had bamboo shoots (which normally asian curries have) the waitress didnt know what that was. That was fine as we normally ask for it to be taken out anyway since bamboo to me smells foul. And in certain curries, it ruins the flavor. The only real suggestion I would make is to add some different vegetables into the curry as the panang we ordered had mostly green beans a scarce of anything else. The meat we ordered for it was cooked to perfection and was very tender. It would have been nice to have a couple more pieces to compliment the sauce and add something aside from the green beans. Dont get me wrong, I like green beans and all other veggies, but I would expect maybe some zucchini, some bell peppers, but what we got was green beans and onions. We got the chicken lettuce wraps which were good. My only suggestion would be to add a little bit more seasoning to the mix as this was lacking slightly. The lettuce was sized uniformly, and clean. The filling was juicy and had a good chew to it that made eating it enjoyable. Just the flavor was there, but not as strong as it could be. But the other thing was the gyoza. Now these are normally fried just to a crisp but not too hard to crunch. A few of the gyoza we had was hard for us to crunch through as if the tips of the dough were too hard to get through. I had to have some soak in the dipping sauce to make it chewable. The sushi was good. The kani salad wasnt that great though. The krab didnt have any flavor to it except for the mayo it was in. And its normally a little spicy, and it wasnt. The wife tried to add some wasabi to it to add a little spiciness and flavor to it to make it through. The dessert we got though was the tempura banana. It had sprinkles and was cut and individually fried. This wasnt terrible but a little awkward as the banana could have just been fried whole and have chocolate as a dip on the side instead of a light drizzle. The sprinkles was different and was an interesting take on it. This was okay. It added a little extra crunch to the bite sized pieces of the banana. A few adjustments and this would be one of the best. I think the only indifference we had was our waitress. She did her job well. The only thing about her was the mannerism and the slight feeling of carelessness. I think if she smiled a bit more and was a little more friendly, she would have been fantastic. She was attentive and refilled our drinks, but she seemed like maybe she was just having a bad day and we got a sense of it a bit. I wouldnt say I dont recommend, but aside from the staple foods like fried rice or pad thai, I would ask about the item you are ordering. And I do hope this place prospers and thrives and want to see great things from this place. As of right now, our view of this establishment is lackluster. I would suggest that maybe whoever is in charge of the menu maybe talk with the cooks about how certain dishes should be made, possibly starting with the clear soup. We will take a little bit of time before coming back to see if any changes were...
Read moreThere was one other table in the restaurant, however it still took us 10 minutes to get greeted. We ordered 4 rolls, as well as chicken teriyaki. The soup and salad came out quick but was nearly inedible. The salad was swimming in, whatever they consider to be ginger dressing, and the soup was so greasy it was separating as it cooled. It took about 25 minutes for the main food, which is fine, however, every single roll tasted the same. Everything was bland, as if it was old freezer burned food they should’ve just tossed. The chicken was a thin, flat piece of chewy chicken with some teriyaki sauce tossed on top. We reminded the server for the spicy Mayo and extra set of chopsticks, but once the food came she never came back again, we saw her 2 times. We asked another server for our check (at this point there were 3 tables). We ate about half of the food, and she seemed confused when we didn’t want boxes…maybe if she had showed up once after the food arrived she would’ve known. The cost is the same as many other better, and similar restaurants in the area. Do your taste buds and patience a favor, and...
Read moreThe manager of this place is absolutely ridiculous, she makes her employees pay for the customers meal that was not eaten due to it tasting like old oil, blaming the staff saying they ordered the wrong meal for the customer which was not true it just did not taste good. Argues with staff in front of customers yelling. When at check out she still wanted us to pay for the 1st meal which was more expensive than the replacement meal and for the employee to pay for the 1st meal that was sent back. Charged an additional fee for ordering a salad instead of an egg roll on the 1st order which was the only thing that was eaten and no egg roll was given which comes with the meal. In the end when trying to speak to the manager about the situation she would not let me speak and kept cutting me off telling me the employee will pay and it was her fault in which I disagreed with. I feel so bad for any employees working here and completely disagree with the customer service. They want every penny...
