âââââ âFive Scoops of Glory at Insane Conezâ
If Willy Wonka retired in Florida and decided to actually make good stuff, he wouldâve opened Insane Conez in Port Charlotte. And let me tell you, Jonathan and Debi arenât just ownersâtheyâre the BeyoncĂŠ and Jay-Z of ice cream. They donât serve desserts; they serve therapy sessions in a cone.
Walking in, youâre instantly hit with two timelines: ⢠The Past â a wall of candy so nostalgic it had me whispering, âIs that a Now & Later, or am I hallucinating?â Itâs like walking through your childhood lunchbox and realizing your dentist was rightâyou did eat too much sugar. ⢠The Future â freeze-dried candy. I popped one in my mouth and suddenly felt like I was snacking on astronaut food on a Mars mission⌠except way tastier and without Elon Musk staring at me.
And then thereâs the ice cream. Holy dairy cow. đ Every flavor is so good it should come with a warning label: âMay cause spontaneous happy dancing.â The PB&J flavor? Itâs like your grandma made you a sandwich, but instead of handing it to you, she said, âNah, weâre going to churn this bad boy into happiness.â The triple peanut butter? Forget triple threatâthatâs a full-on Broadway production in a cone.
And donât even get me started on the crazy shakes. These things look like they got dressed for prom in the candy aisle at Target. One sip and I was like, âThis is what unicorns must drink before Pilates.â
The atmosphere? Jonathan and Debi make you feel like youâre not customersâyouâre family that they actually like. Youâre greeted with smiles so genuine you forget youâre in Florida, where usually the only thing smiling at you is a gator.
Bottom line: If happiness had a flavor, it would be Insane Conez. If love had a texture, it would be Jonathan and Debiâs funnel cakeâcrispy on the outside, soft on the inside. And if nostalgia and the future had a baby? That baby would be eating freeze-dried Skittles in the corner whilqe clapping for their parents.
So yeah, skip therapy this weekâjust get yourself...
Read moreSunday 2/8/2023 I googled in search of funnel cakes and located Gelato World. I ordered 4 funnel cakes to go not realizing prep time would be at the least 20 minutes. So I waited. As I sat there I had the opportunity to watch two of the most courteous teenagers conduct business in a professional manner. Lacey being left alone to handle the constant flow of customers, as many as six family members at once, patiently handle each request to either explain ingredients or offer taste to each and everyone, never showing any sign of stress always smiling. Emily in the meantime was focused on preparing enough batter and then meticulously cooking on at a time having already prepared the four takeout containers to pack my treats. Lining the boxes with foil and rendering a generous layer of powdered sugar prior to delivering a perfectly crisp funnel cake and then topping with an additional layer of powdered sugar. One by one systemically until all four were completed. She even stopped to assist a customer seeking additional spoon. Iâve been in the business world longer than I care to admit. Never have I encountered such a smoothly run team effort creating the best customer service experience ever!! I inquired about their status because surely there must be an adult: owner in the back and or they part of ownershipâŚno on both counts! Whoever the owners are you are so blessed to have Lacey and Emily in your employ. Truly an...
Read moreYep - it's fantastic! Drove almost an hour as this place looked fun with the interesting shakes and over the top desserts. It's in a small strip mall next to Pioneer Pizza. This place sources Amish ice cream from Sarasota. The owners were super friendly, accommodating and patient. There r SOOOO many choices and they will pretty much craft anything to your liking. We ended up ordering the really large specialty brownie shake, which did not disappoint. It was a shake topped with a brownie, which was topped with a scoop of ice cream and then a couple choc covered pretzels, some pretzels attached around the mug, more brownie/whipped cream at the base. It's impressive & for $15, thought that was fair. Also had the banana split, which was tasty. MANY ice cream flavors/choices and are willing to give you samples to help make your decision. They even offered 1/2 scoop of 1 flavor and 1/2 of another! The scoops were very generous - no tiny scooop that made you wishing you had more. Lots of dairy free sorbets, which I love. Also have gf cones, which we appreciated. Will definitely return to this location for more ice cream treats and bring others for...
