Never in my life have I ever been treated so poorly by a waitress and a manager as I was tonight!
My family, including my 92-year-old grandmother, went out for dinner at this restaurant, as we often do. Initially, everything was fine. However, a woman and her daughter with a fussy six-month-old baby was sitting directly behind us. The baby had been fussing for about 30-45 minutes, but we chose to ignore it; after all, I have three children and understand how these situations can be. My grandmother eventually turned around and kindly asked the woman if she could try to calm her baby or take him for a walk. The woman responded, and I advised my grandmother not to engage further. For a brief moment, peace returned while they settled their bill, but as they stood to leave, they made rude and nasty comments about my grandmother loud enough for our table to hear. This escalated into a verbal confrontation between me and the two women. The waitress approached us, asking us to calm down, which I understood completely. It's worth noting that neither the staff nor the manager had witnessed the rude comments aimed at my grandmother; therefore, they were unaware of the situation's context.
The "temporary" manager then approached us and stated that I would need to settle my bill and leave. He then went to the waitstaff area, where the waitress who served the two women joined him. I could overhear their conversation and was appalled by her misguided opinion of the incident, given her lack of knowledge about what had actually occurred. After being told to leave despite having only eaten a quarter of my $40 meal, I went to the restroom to wash my hands. Upon exiting, I asked to speak with the owner, who kindly stepped outside with me. I explained everything that had transpired, including the confrontation. He mentioned that the manager was only “temporary” and that he already had to reprimand him earlier today. When I noted that I had barely eaten, his only response was, “I’m sorry.” I was 100% taken back by his lack of concern. As I saw my family leaving the restaurant, I walked away from the owner to follow them, while the owner returned inside. Within minutes, the manager reemerged walking towards me telling me to never return.
At the end of the day, I have absolutely NO PROBLEM taking my family elsewhere to spend...
Read moreSo went to Captain Crab Seafood in Port Charlotte for the first time last night , was a little pricey, but food was really good, now I grew up working in the resteraunt industry and always tip 20% and understand that servers rely on the tip income, I have to say last night was the first time in probably 20 years that I pretty much stiffed the waiter, we arrived at 6:50 , was sat right away they were some what busy but not packed by any means and took 20 minutes before we even had server take drink order,, we ordered sushi to be an appetizer and let server know that we would like that first, finally got drinks after another ten minutes, then after waiting an hour our main dishes came out looked good but still hadn't received appetizer yet, finally after asking about it they made and brought the sushi, repeatedly had to try and flag down server to request things like soy sauce , utensils and refill on drinks, we only had 3 ppl at our table and each of us had to individually try to catch the server to get these things, at one point after asking server we flagged down a bus boy to actually get the things we had already asked server for that he never brought, food tasted great but had to be worst service I have gotten ever, unfortunately will be a long time before we try them again, after taking 2 and a half hours to get and eat dinner , I asked hostess to speak with manager, was informed there was no manger on duty, had to speak to cashier who I was told was in charge and let her know about the horrible service in great detail, all she did was apologize and offered nothing, no reduction in bill no discount on a future visit, it is sad that a place with such good food doesn't care about establishing return business from ppl who live...
Read moreRunning a restaurant now is a lot harder than it was same time last year. I do understand that, being in the business. Restrictions on how many can enter at a time, face masks, sanitation practices, it’s hard. What is confusing to me is that basic things are so hard to execute. Like service. I’ve been to the captain twice before, and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with fantastic service. Tonite I wasn’t so lucky. Sat down promptly without a wait, hostess said our waiter would be there shortly. Soon after, a waitress came to the table, took our drink order and dinner order, then told us that another server would be our server. Drinks came soon enough, 1/2 of our order came much later. My 2lb. steam dinner was served, by whom I’m guessing, was the waiter the hostess told me about, my wife’s dinner(fried shrimp) was not served. After about 10 minutes, the server who took our order, stopped by to see how everything was. Since my wife still did not receive her meal, and I would not start without her, I could not tell her. She said she would find out about the shrimp and that they come out of a different kitchen. Different kitchen? 10 minutes later, my wife’s fried shrimp made an appearance. Her shrimp and my luke warm steam bag tasted fine. Now comes a different server to see if we need another round. Apparently, she was our server all along, since she was the one who asked if we had room for dessert, and gave us our check to pay. One of the things going through my head during all this was where was the manager? Maybe the manager had the night off. Saturday night!!! There are a plenty of restaurants in our area who have over come the challenges of COVID. Lashley‘s, Finn’s, Hurricane Charlie’s. Sadly, the Captain crab is still...
