Once upon a time, I frequented this Islas Canarias facility along with my family and enjoyed excellent ham, chicken, and fish croquetas with great taste and seasoning. Today, I was in the neighborhood and stopped by after nearly three years (the restaurant is about 11 miles from my house) to buy 4 ham, 4 chicken, and 4 fish croquetas to take home. Unfortunately, their quality has taken a deep dive and the croquetas were very salty as if the restaurant was trying to fire up their taste by masking them with salt for the lack or low quality of batter ingredients. I was only able to eat 3, and the rest ended up in my kitchen trash. My wife also took a bite of one, and the rest of it ended in the trash as well. In my book, the croquetas from Islas Canarias are no longer what they once were. In my opinion, their croqueta quality is no longer there. This only reflects a review about the croquetas and not any other cuisine specialties the restaurant offers its customers.

This is my favorite place for croquetas in Miami. On this visit, EVERYTHING went better than expected! We came in so hungry and left so satisfied—from the seating arrangement to the appetizers to the main course, not to mention they surprised the lady next to us with a very fervent and fun Happy Birthday song that the entire restaurant joined in to celebrate her as well! We started with both ham and chicken croquettes, followed by a bowl of chicken soup and caldo gallego (flavorful & creamy white bean and sausage soup). We then shared a plate of boniato relleno de tasajo (Cuban sweet potatoes stuffed with jerked beef) with white rice and fufu de plátano (tasty mashed green and ripe plantains). Our server was attentive and pleasant. She gave us room to talk but checked on us periodically. I took my dessert: tres leches to go and will definitely go back soon if I can!

Haven’t been here since I was a little girl. I was born and raised in little Havana and I used to go to the original on 27th Ave but it closed down. I always remembered they had three BEST croquetas. Came here today and man they still have the best croquetas just wow. 🤩 so delicious and flavorful! The place is so nicely decorated, very typical Cuban spot and also have a bakery where you can pick up the typical colada and pan cubano. Tried the Cubano especial and it was really good, also ordered the pan con bistec and I have to say not my favorite. The steak was not seasoned and a bit thick for a steak sandwich. It’s okay but not the best le falta sazón for sure. Other than that good place, need to try their other food. Will recommend to you all to try especially their croquetas!

I called for a delivery service and like always the lady that gets the orders was with a very bad aptitude. I ignored her bad aptitude and proceded with my order. This called was at 8:06 pm and the order was 2 baby churrasco. The order never arrived I called again at 9:10 pm and the same lady told me that all the drivers left for the day and that they completed all orders, so I asked for a manager. After I was put in hold for 16 minutes the manager Luis did not listen to me when I told her that the lady that took my order had a bad aptitude and told me that I must be mistaken Islas Canarias bakery for Islas Canarias restaurant because not order was done by my name what so ever. I told him like 3 times that I ordered in the bakery and he did not believe me and he defended her employee by saying that she always does a good job and that I was the one with the mistake. I consider myself well educated and as a client I’m an excellent tipper. When someone made a mistake that’s not the end of the world, you just say sorry but that was not the case, the only solution that Mr. Luis suggested was Uber eats. A customer is not supposed to be treated like that. I feel very disappointed with the bad attention that they gave me to the point that I felt disrespected because the manager basically told me without saying anything it that I was lying or that...

This was my second time coming to this restaurant, and my service was terrible. I ordered the baby chicken breast and my vegetables were cold. The male Waite was less than attentive, and I was unable to placey sons chicken soup order for a while. Everyone else had their dishes, and the waiter finally showed up after we were almost finished eating. My son was the last one to eat. I believe that if a table is being served everyone's meal should come out about the same time so you are not left staring at someone eat while you do not. It would also be nice if when speaking to your waiter he let's you finish before walking off. I can't recall how many times he walked of mid conversation. On the positive note, however, my daughters pumpkin soup was very good, and my chicken was also very good. As far as recommending the place, I don't think I will. I understand that it may have just been a bad service day due to our waiter, but someone should have come to our table to at least see if all was well or we needed something. The female waitress that arrived after our waiter left asked if we needed anything, but it was too late as we have finished our meals. Very dissapointed on the quality of service here, as the food was not that bad except for the vegetables...
