Since moving to St. Pete a little over two years ago, I have been systematically working my way through the same go-to favorites at various locally owned Italian restaurants to find my ideal combination of authentic, delicious, and appropriately affordable Italian eats. I even circled back to top contenders to evaluate consistency and branch out. But my second order from Italian Touch has officially put a pin in my quest.
I've only been able to enjoy the Carbone's food as take-out so far, due to the pandemic, but it arrives hot, fresh, and thoughtfully packaged, is classically delicious and undeniably scratch-made (dressings, breads, and sauces at the very least), and tastes every bit as full of love as the same dishes did when made by my late Italian grandmother, but even better in terms of quality and consistency. (Shhhh, it's okay, she can't see this anymore and would be happy I'm happy.)
If you're looking for "fancy" Italian and expect a simple chicken parm to cost around $25, St. Pete offers abundant options. If you're looking for the warm, edible embrace of flaky, fresh-baked bread loaded with fresh garlic and gooey mozzarella; for pillowy hand-rolled meatballs or sausages with just the right amount of fennel and an abundance of homemade tomato sauce; for more tender, meaty, and cheesy lasagna than you can possibly eat in a sitting for less than $15 (Yes, really!); for thinly pounded and crispy-fried chicken cutlets generously sauced and blanketed with cheese; for tender, respectably sized shrimp and perfectly cooked pasta lovingly doused in cheesy, creamy, homemade Alfredo sauce (and still in excellent plated shape upon arrival as take-out, which is incredibly impressive); and even for pleasantly tangy red wine vinaigrette dressing over a fresh, simple salad that doesn't look like an afterthought or last week's lettuce (y'all know what I'm talking about), then Italian Touch is your place.
It also heats up well in the toaster oven and is similarly delicious cold -- especially the lasagna. I haven't even finished tonight's meal and am already jazzed about leftovers.
Thank you Nicola, Pina, and team! :) I look forward to meeting y'all in person one day and, until then, to my next take-out order. Stay...
Read moreWe've heard such good things about Italian touch. Unfortunately our timing was always wrong Dining here In the past. Well it was worth the wait. This place Is without a doubt one of the best Italian restaurants in town, if not the best. It's one of these reviews I almost hate doing because it's so good I'm afraid I'll make the place slammed all the time and not being able to get in myself haha. When driving up it is located in a non descript little Strip plaza Across from target. When you 1st opened the door The aroma of fresh Italian spices Fills your senses. The family working talking to each other In Italian. The inside is not a dark romantic candle it experience. More of a family style feel with light Italian background music. Both started with salads with of course Italian dressing and fresh bread. Very good salads..love the dressing, more vinegar than oil. I had the shrimp portofino. Good size shrimp With homemade pasta. It was delicious. My wife ordered the lasagna. It was monster sized. She said that it was the best lasagna she's ever had and I tried it also and had to agree. It wasn't dry or tasteless. No the flavors were through the roof. When you take the 1st bite your tongue will thank you 😁. We both came home with leftovers enough for lunch tomorrow. FYI..Just don't be in a rush dinning here. Everything is homemade from scratch. I promise you we'll...
Read moreMy civil rights were were violated at this place tonight and I have already filed a report with the Department of Justice and I will be speaking to an attorney Monday morning. I have everything on video. I have a service dog, 100% service dog, not ESA a true service dog and was denied service. The owner called me a liar and stated my dog was not a service dog even though I offered to show him my tag and paperwork. He screamed and raised his voice in front of the entire restaurant and made us leave. This is so unfair. I have a service dog for a medical condition. Per law, my dog is allowed to accommodate me in any public area, restaurant, airplane etc. This place has went downhill in the last 2 years.
UPDATE: you lied on your response. Stop lying. My dog never left my husband's arms so for you to stay he was jumping up and down on my leg is a lie. This too is on video. My dog is 100% a service dog and not an ESA. You can request the video from my attorney who will be in touch with you. I look forward to seeing you and your patron in court cause I am escalating this incident to the highest courts the law will allow. I will not be discriminated due to having a disability nor will I allow your place of business to do this to another person who requires a...
