Written by Marty n I. East of the Berlin Wall " Seldom will I take the time to write a negative review but tonight's visit to Jax's Bistro and Bar warranted just this. We arrived early to a friendly greeting and a quick seating by the attractive hostess who provided us with 3 menus and stated and I quote, " happy hour menu is served until 6 in the dining room (12 tables ) and 7 in the bar area (aprx 9 tables)" mind you in this small Bistro the bar and restaurant are divided by a 4' wall. Our waitress was pleasant, took our drink order off the happy hour menu and returned shortly thereafter to drop our drinks and take our food order . The bar bite happy hour menu was what we wanted but were quickly informed that this menu was served only on the west side of the wall, which was arms length from our table. In looking at their dinner menu we Noticed the same roast beef sliders on this menu which was $5.00 more then the bar menu so of course we just ordered off that and were informed that we would get 3 sliders versus the bar menu I sliders which was only two Relatively reasonable right So I order the fish tacos Same deal $5.00 more when ordering off the dinner menu again. Two served on the bar Menu and wait 2 served on the dinner menu makes sense right? Not! Then the brussel sprouts which simply were $5.00 more for the privilege of sitting east of the wall. Nothing made any sense . The tacos were so salty I ate one and left the other, the chocolate martini was null of liquor and the house Pinot noir was the worst I ever tasted to the point it may have been a bad bottle Need I say more . We won't return !

First time dining here. I actually ordered, a French Dip Sandwich to go a month ago. While I waited, (I believe it was the owner), I was asked if I wanted a drink while I wait. Wow.! That was nice - I obliged and tried a shot of his choice. It was great. I then stayed for a drink from a lovely patron sitting at the bar having his meal. This place was stellar the first time I ever stepped foot in it!! I wanted my Fiance to check it out because he loves Italian food. We finally had a chance to make it there for dinner. It was PHENOMENAL. We arrived around 5/515p, no bar seats (we love sitting at the bar). We wanted the round high top near the bar, but the hostess refused. We presume since the high top was sat for four and we were only two, we weren't able to sit there. We ended up sitting at another high top but rectangular table (not round and near bar) which sat four (not sure what the difference was?). It all worked out however as our server Kamlyn, was top notch! Her service was the experience of being at a fine dining place. The food was absolutely excellent! 👌🏼 Italian Duo and Clams Linguini - delicious! Tasted fresh and portions were on the big side. Our cocktails were average, but we didn't go there to drink. We will most definitely return to try other dishes no doubt. And we're definitely asking for Kamlyn. The amazing service of Kamlyn and the outstanding food dishes cancelled out the disappointment to sit where we wanted. Thank you for a wonderful experience! 🙏🏼

If you are on Jog Road in Boynton Beach, you have to make a stop in this little quant restaurant that has everything on the menu, and the cooks in the back are just amazing. Gabriella, our server is wonderful. Don't let the tattoos scare you away as she is one of the friends and kindest staff members I have met in some time. With a big smile and knows lots about the menu, she made some yummy suggestions. Staff members have to be patient as the night we were there it was a retired crowed. This is a family owned local joint with a nice small bar area and dinner area. they have some great early bird specials, and the regular menu is priced right. Nice size portions. At our table (forgot to take pics), linguine and clams. A very nice size portion and baby back ribs that were made with their homemade sauce, and they fell off the bone. There was no room for dessert but would have lived something as all was delicious! If you get a chance to stop in to this yummy restaurant, make sure you say hello to Lorretta, the hostess. She is in her 90-plus years and runs circles around the rest of the staff.

The first time we ate there was about a month ago and we were pleased. So we wanted to take our out of town visitors to Katzner's for lunch. We told our friends that it is a new place and was very good. We even told them that we heard that the owner Alan was friendly and from New York just like them.

We got there around 11:30 AM which is a half hour after they opened. We were seated right away. Our friends were impressed with the look of the place and wanted to meet Alan. They asked for him and he came by. They started a conversation with him and he said about 6 words and walked away, dismissing them. I thought that was rude.

We ordered from the lunch menu. The food was just OK. The egg salad was OK. The menu said that I would get the egg salad plate with tomato, cucumber, onion and potato salad. It only came with tomato and cucumber. I called the servers attention to that and he said that it was right and doesn't come with onion and potato salad. I showed the menu to him and he then brought me the items that was missing. I asked for a bagel for my egg salad and was told that they are only for the Lox and Bagel meal. So I settled for the rye bread and it was very soft and doughy.

Unfortunately, no one could eat the potato salad. It was full of paprika and had a sweet taste. I guess I wasted my efforts on the potato salad.

This trip was a total different experience than our first visit. I was disappointed and a little embarrassed. Our friends didn't care for the...
