So my niece told me about this place and I was excited to try it out. When I walked in I noticed right away the dining area was rather small and close but very clean. I waited for awhile before a server came to the front to take my order and when she did get to the counter she was speaking with a young man that had come in after me. I waited for them to finish then I placed my order. I must say I'm a picky eater and I eat small portions. So I ordered a kid's stewed chicken with bean's and brown rice, cabbage witha side of plantains. I figured I'd get a drink so I added a champagne kola. I ended up with a regular/adult size stewed chicken with cabbage, beans and brown rice and a side of plantains. Now I drove from brandon to get food from here. It was no problem because if I want it I will drive the distance for it. I opened my container of plantains and to my surprise 😳 there were 6 plantains in there. I took a look at my receipt and it showed the charge of $3.95😵🧐. The food was delicious and the customer service could have been handled thoroughly. Multitasking is not everybody's suit. One thing I know and two things for sure, I will NEVER order plantains from here again!!!!😡 I was truly disappointed when I saw 6 little plantains in the container. As much as I love them, it's a "NO" for me even if someone offered to buy them for me. This is a rip off!!!! I'm so disappointed about my side order of plantains. 🤦🏽♀️ Is this part of the re-gentrification,...
Read moreI ordered from Jerk Pit via UberEATS, and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I ordered Jerk Chicken, Rice & Peas, Vegetables, an extra order of Oxtail, Gravy on the side, and a slice of Rum Cake. Unfortunately, this was a disaster from start to finish.
First off, they failed to include my extra order of oxtail — which I paid for. That alone would’ve warranted a complaint, but the meal itself was no better. The oxtail that was included with the meal was chewy and tough, not at all the tender, fall-off-the-bone texture I’ve enjoyed at countless other Jamaican spots.
The gravy was bland and watery, completely missing that rich, savory flavor you expect. The rice was just as uninspired — dry and flavorless, like it had been sitting for hours with zero seasoning. The only redeeming part of the main dish was the vegetables, which were actually pretty good — well-cooked and flavorful.
But then there was the salt. Everything — except the cake — was ridiculously salty, to the point where I had to stop halfway through. It felt like someone in the kitchen just upended a salt shaker over every dish.
The only highlight? The rum cake. Moist, rich, and perfectly sweet. But a good slice of cake isn’t enough to justify the rest of this trainwreck of a meal.
Between the missing items, terrible execution, and over-seasoning, this was a complete letdown. I won’t be ordering from Jerk Pit again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality...
Read moreAlthough we were greeted as soon as we entered the store front restaurant, it did not in any way address the temperature in the dining room. Shame that the restroom was cooler than the dining area. Food was hot and fresh. Hubby devoured the oxtail, rice and cabbage. Not saying much as he will eat anything. Why is it that the moment he gets jamaican food he begins talking like he be rasta-man. LMBO and smh! Back to the food. I was disappointed 😞 with the curry shrimp and roti. Roti was thicker than tortillas and very few shrimp. Could taste the curry but no other sethasonings at all. So disappointed that I had to text my colleague from Trinidad to complain. Wait staff was attentive and a youngin in training. Restroom was presentable but the door has never been wiped down nor the baseboards around the dining area. C'mon family we've got to do better. It's easy to do as a once a month task. Ohhhhh also, the drink cooler was being restocked (a good thing, right?)...the bottles/cans were placed directly on the floor for replenishment. Don't simply go through the motions of service... Because I am about the SERVICE OVERALL...I do not recommend this jamaican restaurant until they cleanup...
