This was my first visit to Keke's with my Significant where we were in the area and wanted to grab breakfast before we went about our routine we normally do on the weekends. A co-worker of my Significant recommended this place and so we decided to have a go at it.
So here is the review...
Upon walking into the establishment, we were promptly greeted by the hostess on staff in a timely matter and took my name down and informed us that there will be a short and brief wait. After that short and brief wait my name was called and instructed the hostess to take a couple that had walked in before us who did not put their names on the waiting list whereas they were first in line. The hostess sat that couple down and then after another 2 or so minutes called my name for the second time. Saying to me that what I did was courteous of me to give up my spot on the line to allow someone else ahead of us. She promptly sat us at one of the window seats and took our drink orders. She was very welcoming and made the start of the experience an inviting one at that. BUUUUT shortly after, this is where things went a bit downhill...
Let me explain.
After the hostess went to fill our drink orders, my significant and I were able to hear clear as can be, someone, who eventually we were able to determine that it was the manager, yelling and screaming from within the kitchen using language that would be considered, demining and inappropriate toward another employee including but limited to using the “F” Bomb in several incidences. The actions of that manager were clearly noticed by several other customers who were there before us and were already served their meals. Even customers with young children. After another minute or so, our server came to our table with our drink orders and then proceeded to take our breakfast orders. She came across a very positive and pleasant person with a great working knowledge of the menu. She gave my Significant some suggestions and was able to suggest a way for our breakfast order to be placed where she saved us some money off the total bill. After a few visits to our table to make sure that our breakfast was to our satisfaction, my Significant inquired to what the disturbance that had occurred within the kitchen. This is where we were told, this sort of behavior is not uncommon from the manager.
As for what we ordered.
The food we ordered was served in a timely matter. The presentation of my cheese omelet was plated nicely along side with the bacon I ordered. My eggs were cooked exactly to my standards and the bacon was crisp but not burned, exactly how I ordered. The banana granola pancakes my Significant also was presented beautifully with a whole banana sliced, placed in a single row along with the granola sprinkled on top of the stack. The pancakes had a rich and full flavor where the bananas and granola added a sweet nuance to the flavor and texture.
Recap...
Overall, the experience was great where the service was on point with the server taking the time to make sure our breakfast order was 100% satisfactory. The hostess was friendly, pleasant and welcoming. The place itself was clean and well cared for. The tables were plenty roomy enough even for a plus size gentleman like myself and my Significant. This would have been a full 5-star rating if my Significant and I along with other customers, were not exposed to the tirantcy of the manager not taking the professional route with one of the employees within the kitchen. Even if the employee(s) was in error at the time! My Significant and I are going to have to possibly reconsider on returning because of that...
Read moreI am a young black female and I recently visited this cafe with two friends (one Asian and one Hispanic). After waiting twenty minutes to be seated, we had to wait an additional 35-40 mins for our food. During this time, the manager (a white heavy set female) checked on every table in our vicinity except for ours. When our food finally left the kitchen, we watched as it was delivered to the wrong table and subsequently taken back to the kitchen. Our waiter noticed this mishap and made sure that our food was delivered to us. Upon receipt of my food, my waffle was stale, my eggs were cold and so were my slices of bacon. My assumption is that my order sat in the kitchen until my friends’ orders of French toast were ready, and thus became cold/stale in the process. I tried to power through this meal but after one slice of bacon, a quarter of a waffle and half of an egg, I gave up. I sat as my friends ate, trying to get the waiter’s attention, but he could see that I was upset and avoided our table. Finally I waved him down and let him know that I was unhappy with my food, and he sent his manager by. When she arrived at our table, not only was she rude and condescending, but she refused to give me a refund on my meal! She walked away without settling the matter, and the poor waiter had to go out of his way to give me an employee discount. Save your money and go elsewhere; especially if you are a person of color. The food was subpar and expensive, and we were treated as less than because of the color of our skin...
Read moreMe and my friends went there for a breakfast brunch for one of our friends. We had got a table for 14 people and some of our friends were a little late but none the less they were on there way. Nobody had informed us that we were not allowed to hold tables for people that WERE coming. Our 1st server by the name of Leslie kept asking us and watching over us till we finally gave in to what she wanted and started ordering our food without everyone being there. She was very rude while ordering and wouldn’t let us finish our sentence without her beginning to start another one of hers. At this time we requested another waitress who’s name was I believe Melinda. So about 20-25 minutes later our food is coming out and nearly all of it was wrong including items we had never ordered. While this is all happening the rude server Leslie was across the restaurant talking to her other coworkers about us, and she made it known she was talking about us by pointing at our table. She constantly stared and angrily glared at everyone at the table . At the end of this all our food was cold and lackluster, we we’re treated as if we were not all paying customers (our ages range from 16-19 so Leslie probably didn’t wanna serve a bunch of PAYING young adults). My friend left angry and the only good thing about this restaurant was the wonderful service Melinda gave. I recommend if you go there asked to be served by Melinda especially if you’re a...
