I am just writing this to get it out of my system.
I'm somewhat new to the state and this is the only Keke's I've ever been to, so I'm not sure if this is typical of the brand or if it's just this Wellington location. The place is always clean and the servers and other staff are always gracious. I'm a pancake connoisseur and this is by far some of the best I've ever had, top 3. The vibe isn't small enough where "everyone knows your name" but you're always greeted warmly.
Here's the part I need to get out of my system: Today, my kid's (for a 7y.o) order was mistakenly put in as a regular combo. I asked about it when we received the order and was assured (by another server who was helping my server) it'll be ran as a kid's meal. When I checked the bill, I saw that it was not a kid's meal. Innocent mistake and my server went to deal with it. The manager comes out and ask what the issue is. He starts saying things like "you ate the whole meal" when there was part of the pancake left behind. He informs me that the server would have taken the meal back if I had informed anyone before. I did inform them before we started eating. I initially cut the regular pancake in half which I figured would be somewhat equivalent to one of the small pancakes. I didn't have exact measurements, but he was trying to tell me something about something being 5 inches and we only left a quarter of the adult pancake. Well, the rest of the pancake was just staring at my daughter as I was wrapping up my short stack, so she did take a few more bites. Since Mike the manager likes precision, she probably had a fourth of the remaining half a pancake. The regional manager happened to be there, and offered to do something, but I had already paid (as soon as the location manager started interrogating me) and left, since I was so upset.
I had a great meal in a consistently great atmosphere just for poor management to ruin the experience. This deserved a one star rating and a call to corporate, but I'm sure no one cares if one less family remains a weekly regular. I'm not disciplined enough to say I won't ever return, lol, just no longer our family brunch spot. I suggest you triple check every order as soon as you you receive it since this is how things will be resolved should an...
Read moreMy daughter and I stopped in for a bite to eat after a doctors appointment yesterday. My initial impression was fine. We walked in were greeted by the hostess and older woman with Harry Carey style glasses. She showed us to our table and was quite pleasant we sat for a couple minutes and our server finally came over and asked us for a drink order which we gave her and she prompt brought it right back. Then she never returned, we sat there and sat there, and finally I decided to get up to go and look for her and she was standing at the server station chatting it up with her fellow employees and I said may we please order and she says oh sure And follows me back to the table. We give her our full order. I was very specific about what I ordered. I ordered a grilled cheese, Panini with bacon and a side of onion rings and my daughter ordered a kids grilled cheese with french fries. She obviously did not Put the order in immediately because the food took forever then when it was finally delivered, it was two grilled cheese, one with bacon and one without took me another probably five minutes to find the waitress again and I explained to her this is not what I ordered, and she had no excuse whatsoever. I told her that I would like the Panini instead of the grilled cheese because that’s what I ordered could she please order that for me and I’ll keep what I have because I was starving so I could start on my onion rings, etc. she never ever returned! She never fix the order. She never ordered another Panini. Nothing! We finished our food, walked up to the hostess stand and asked to pay for my bill because I was never even given a bill, the hostess then proceeded to get the manager, and I explained what happened and that I would like to pay for my food so that I could leave. He had absolutely no idea how to adjust the check, how he became a manager I’m not quite sure, he finally got frustrated trying to adjust the check and said don’t worry about it. It’s on us and we left the servers name was Ashley! The only way I found that out was because I asked another server to tell me what her name was because she never introduced herself to us, Worst service ever and Management doesn’t have a clue what...
Read moreWe came here for breakfast years ago and I remember that I had enjoyed their meal. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for our recent visit.
The place (which is very big) was packed, and there were already several people waiting. Since the estimated wait was around 10-15 minutes, we decided to wait and gave our cell number to the hostess, as they send you a text when it’s your turn. After ½ hour that we were waiting outside, just in front of the entrance, we still hadn’t received any text, and as soon as I went in to check with the hostess, I realized that even the people who arrived after us had already been seated. The hostess apologized (explaining that somebody else must have messed up with the system…) and seated us right away.
We waited some time for the waiter, but a delay in a very busy restaurant has to be expected.
I ordered a grilled cheese with no sides. I wasn’t asked about my choice of (2) cheeses, but I didn’t really have any preference. I was much more disappointed instead to hear that they don’t have regular milk for the coffee and that they only bring half and half. My husband ordered an egg and cheese sandwich with fries.
My grilled cheese was ok, although due to the thick bread they should really serve it with at least 3 slices of cheese. The fries, which were added to my order instead of my husband’s one, should have probably kept longer in the fryer, but they tasted as if they were old anyways. The egg and cheese sandwich… THAT was the tipping point for me: it contained 1 almost invisible slice of cheese and one a little more visible piece of scrambled Egg Beater. Now, if that “thing” would cost $3, I wouldn’t be complaining, but almost $10??
That was a very expensive breakfast, above all considering the quality of the food and the service: I’m definitely...
