I'm giving 5 stars for food, service, and atmosphere. Service was great. Multiple people checked in on us, making sure we were happy. Our server was friendly. The food runners were quickly moving hot food to the tables...almost running to get the food out. For atmosphere, it has a very open and spacious feel, tables far enough apart for privacy, with a very homey decor of dark refurbished wood panels and shabby-chic light distressed pillars and accent wood. It was our first time there, so we didn't know if it was newly renovated, but it felt new. What was most notable was the cleanliness. We saw how clean the floors, tables, and condiment bottles were. That seems to be a rare thing in restaurants we go to. So it really stood out. The large bar area was very organized as well, and clean. That gave us confidence that the kitchen is likely kept clean. The restaurant is well lit, not gloomy, even though there is dark wood walls. The food: my hubby is very picky about burgers, but decided to try one. It was so good that he had to tell the waiter, who informed us that they recently won an award for their burgers!! It is that good! He had requested jalapeños, so that gave an extra wow-factor. We had the baked brie for a starter, which was awesome. It comes with hot, freshly baked pull-apart bread, crispy exterior, soft inside, plus a perfect jam that tasted like apricot, and a savory tomato based jam. The brie came baked in a little black iron pan from the oven. It was everything you could hope for. I like to add a bit of salt on the brie, since brie is not very salty. It really brought out the flavor, and with the jam, you get the salty-sweet. I had a fish dish of two fish, shrimp, and muscles that were cooked in a creamy coconut sauce, with rice. Delicious! Dont expect it poured onto a bed of dry rice. The rice was mixed into the sauce, so it was like a thick seafood chowder on a plate, with hot fresh bread to soak it up. My hubby even dipped his fries in it when I couldn't finish it all. There is plenty of seafood in the dish to satisfy. A nice big portioned dish. We will definitely go back. We were too full to try the desserts, but intend to go back, just to try them, without having dinner first. Bathroom...
Read moreAlmost a 5 Star! Saturday night 6:15pm walked in and took one of the last few tables within minutes. Ordered 2 extra small bourbon drinks for OUCH $17, which were good but definitely not worth that. Our waitress (Shannon M) was awesome. She was on her game which made the evening run smooth. My wife ordered the Beef Roast which apparently was new on the menu. We specifically asked about the salt factor and the waitress replied no one else that ordered it tonight complained. Well guess what it was salty as we expected, wouldn’t order again. We alerted the waitress and she offered to take it back my wife said no because she didn’t want to wait for a different entree to be made. I wanted a lighter fare and went with the pound of Mussels in cream sauce, delicious and would definitely order again. Finished with a Coconut cheesecake, once again delicious and would like to order again but $9. It would have been nice to have a real whipped cream. I will definitely go back but maybe skip the $31 w/ tip for 2 drinks and 1 desert. Total bill was around $58 plus tip. Another review 1-2-22 Sunday night 6pm , Extremely Busy but no excuses. Grilled cod sandwich was poor, completely fell apart with no flavor. I will never order the fish sandwich here again. Mashed potatoes and gravy were barely warm. Not happy! Our waitress had friends apparently eating at a nearby table so most of her time was spent at their outside table chatting . I’ve had many of the dishes here especially sandwiches and salads. It’s amazing I have to say this but Zarates on 776 has better dishes, larger quantities, better flavors, better pricing and always Hot food! I don’t think they even have a chef! It’s crazy to think this place is run by chef’s, you’d never know. I’ll give an overall 2 star, Yikes. To top it off the exterior patio was filthy, leaves covered most of the patio and very dirty. The patio showed no signs it’s been cleaned in a while. The overall quality is severely lacking yet somehow the prices stay one of the highest in the area. Probably won’t be back! Oh the 2 young girls at the hostess stand need extreme help. Until the guy came to help they were lost with 15 people waiting...
Read moreWe traveled from Green Bay, WI to here to visit friends. All in all, my party of five plus our two friends. The artwork that is up for sale is stunning. There are some very cool pieces that we’d love to own. That said, I have to judge upon food. We are from Wisconsin (did I say that enough yet.) and in “the north” you can run across what is tantamount to trash. The reason I say this is I read previous reviews prior to writing. There is an odd flex of hate going on. Folks, come to Wisconsin and try some of our “best burgers in town” places. That’s trash. Tried the smash burger myself which is two patties and cheese, onions and it was a solid option. Was the bun not fully dry on 20% of the circumference? I could loathe that the cheese also was not perfectly positioned. The lettuce was exposed to air. — I’ve had burgers at restaurants served pink and raw: I’m somewhat qualified to diagnose reviews of those who are wanting attention. ——— The honest truth? Had an Arnold Palmer; it was tea and lemon aid, and it fulfilled my desires for a drink after 15 hours of travel just fine. I did walk up to the bar to get a water; but I also recognize we walked in very close to closing time. If that’s what I had to do it does not affect my perception of a resturant. ——- The mashed potatoes were decent. A mixture of fluff to solid texture juxtaposed about the way it should. —— My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich and it was great. —— If this was overtly fancy portion of Key Largo , maybe not billionaire worthy. - On the upside, the folks in the resturant at the time appeared to be enjoying their conversation. The key lime pie was a hit. I’d order that again. I would visit again. —- I wish the establishment the best of success. I enthusiastically recommend Ken & Barbs as...
