Wait until they fix whatever's wrong before you try this place. If not, you'll likely be as disappointed as me.
I'll begin at the beginning. I live right up the street from L' Appetito, and have been a loyal customer for years. My family has chosen to make this restaurant our weekly Friday night indulgence, right before "movie night" with the kids.
Our weekly bill for Friday night ranges from 90 dollars to 130, depending on what everyone wants, and who's at home (we have 6 kids total, two of which are now away from home).
In the past three weeks, I've had 3 problems with my order upon arriving to pick it up. I'll provide details of today's problems (because this app won't allow all three to be listed, as the explanation goes beyond the word count).
Today, I called in 4 orders of bread knots, a stuffed pizza, stromboli, and a few specialty salads. 110 dollars' worth. I was advised to pick everything up in 30 minutes.
When I arrived 30 minutes later, I was met by another odd look. "Uhhm," she said. "Just a minute."
She walked to the woman who typically appears to be in charge of the waitstaff (she's who everyone goes to for answers, anyway). She then went to the owner. The owner nodded toward the pizza cook and whispered something. The manager appeared uneasy.
The woman manager came to the counter. "You're five minutes early, It's going to be just a minute."
I wasn't five minutes early, but I smiled nonetheless. "Okay."
I then watched as the cook spread out a dough, covered it in cheese and meat, and then covered it in cheese before capping it with another dough. It sure looked like he was making my stuffed pizza.
I cleared my throat. "Is that my pizza," I asked the first girl in a mask muffled voice. "The one he's just now making?"
"I'm sorry," she replied. "It is."
Frustrated that the 'manager' hadn't been forthright with me, I rolled my eyes. "How long will the wait be?"
"Twenty minutes," she replied. "Maybe a little more."
Angry, but not at her, I leaned forward and made eye contact with the owner, and then the manager. They shared a few whispered comments and a couple of awkward looks.
"I'm not very happy about this," I told the girl.
She walked to the manager and expressed my concerns. The manager talked to the owner, who then looked at me.
Neither, however, offered an apology, a discount, a free glass of wine (I don't drink, but the gesture would have been nice), or a glass of water while I waited.
Bottom line?
I waited an extra 30 ,minutes for my stuffed pizza while the remainder of my food sat atop the oven, getting stale.
When I left, an hour after my initial call, I hadn't been approached by either the manager or the owner.
When I got home, I was highly disappointed in the quality of the stale food (short of my fresh stuffed pizza).
I'll close in saying that I won't be back for a while. A LONG while. If management looks at someone who religiously spends more money a month on pizza than some Midwest families spend on rent (and more than some individuals spend a month on a car payment), and not at least offer an apology, I have no business patronizing such an...
Read moreWent here for dinner with my grandparents, sister and husband on a Suday a few weeks ago for dinner. Overall a great place. Menu was large, food was delicious, establishment was clean, staff was friendly. The only issue I has was with our specific server. They took about 10 minutes to get to our table to take our drink order (they thought we had already gotten drinks since there was 1 beer bottle on our table). We ordered 2 appetizers, the antipasta salad and garlic knots, and only one came out before the meal since we had to remind the server about the second. When we would ask for water refills the server would acknowledge it but would tend to forget so we'd have to remind them. If it weren't for this server's fellow coworkers helping them deliver food and refill drinks, I'm not sure we would have gotten anything in a degree of timely manner. I gave the staff 4 stars because of our server's team, if I was simply just rating the server themselves I probably would give a 1 star. I am usually very understanding when places are busy, but to barely be acknowledged, checked on and constantly having to remind our server about things really stunk especially since they had an automatic 20% gratuity for a group of 5 (which I thought was odd since normally it is for groups 8+ or even 6+). We wouldn't have gone less than 15% because the server still worked, but we definitely were not going to give 20%. Overall though would definitely recommend and plan on being back...
Read moreAs a regular at this restaurant I noticed that the quality of the food and value of the price paid was starting to decline noticeably. I talked my wife into giving them one more try. Unfortunately they exceeded our expectations negatively again. This was definitely our last visit. We were over charged by $20 which they eventually credited after calling them out in price increases of over 50% as well as unlisted charges. The stated price on the menu versus my credit charge was over 50% higher on my card. They said that the prices went up and are updated on the computer. If the menu says one price and the computer says another, not my problem. If you’ve raised your prices by 50%, you better update the prices on your menu. Seems pretty common sense to most people. The food was again over cooked and we decided that the extra food we ordered for takeout wasn’t even worth getting so we cancelled it. Hope this was worth it for them. They know what they did and should be ashamed on trying to deceive their customers hoping they just pay the bill and don’t review it. I also noticed the suggested tips start at 18%. I would be happy to pay a good tip for great food at a great value with great service. If you want customers to keep coming, you have to continue to earn their business and not try and cheat them. This restaurant won’t survive being run like this. We’ll never go back. Avoid this restaurant. Go somewhere where you can trust the food,...
