Updated review 03/06/2020
Their service is lacking as of lately. For the past 6 months that I've gone, you notice there is no system to taking orders anymore.
If you have to ask who's next? in a city with poor morale your business adopts the same mentality. The same mentality of turning without signaling, of cutting people off, of slamming doors on a pregnant laddies face and yes of having been next in line to order at your business for the past four people yet you keep getting skipped because when you say you're next and others challenge; you opt to stay civilized. It's not the customers fault.
Most people walk around unaware of their surroundings. Why would you notice me at counter? It's not the customers job to tally your business.
The only sensible person there is now overworked due to the lazy coworkers now there. All this while the owner sits from afar watching the clown show and at the outside window cops (we love cops, nothing against them) cops at window congregate and engulf the ordering window although they've placed their orders.
No mas! Ya un cliente fiel se canso del mal servicio.
3yrs old review- Love this restaurant. Because their empanadas & buñuelos are the best in all of Miami. We once moved to Pennsylvania for a year and had Macitas Colombian empanada withdraw... So wife and I drove 30mins to the nearest Columbian restaurant to satisfy our cravings. (yes, 30mins!) lol
Unfortunately we left that Columbian restaurant disappointed. There's nothing better than Macitas own empanadas, their slightly spicy and delicious sauce could not be duplicated anywhere else.
The Columbian restaurant in King of Prussia Pennsylvania had 3 sauces, I literally asked the owner over there, if they had the Macitas sauce. They were confused and gave us three different sauces and told us to have at it. We tried and tried but we could not come up with the authentic flavor of Macitas.
First place we had breakfast upon our return to Miami was Macitas. We absolutely love them and their amazing kind hearted staff; specially Ortencia and Jhoana. Ortencia is the sweetest person you'll meet in that establishment. Jhoana follows her sweetness level as well.
To the owners... Thank you for Macitas and your kitchen genius as well as, thank you for your amazing staff. We will continue enjoying your restaurant for a long...
Read moreLITERALLY the WORST experience I have had in quite some time!!! The customer service has gone downhill incredibly over the years and I’ve tolerated some things but today takes the cake. I called over the phone to order a chicharrón like I’ve done many times in the past. I asked them to not cut it AT ALL and to leave the piece in its complete form. A lot of times after they cut it, they re-fry it to heat it up and you’re left with leathery, hard to chew pieces. The girl over the phone said it’s no problem. I picked up my order and then went home. When I arrive I open the package to see that they had cut it. They left the skin intact but everything else was cut.
I called to ask what had happened because it was extremely dry and over fried on top of it all and the girl told me that I never asked for it to be kept whole and even if I did they don’t do that there. She refused to give me a refund saying I got exactly what I ordered. They then told me I’m probably confused and don’t know where I am because they always cut the chicharrón. 20 YEARS I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl and it has never been a problem.
I spoke to Andrea and Carolina Amaya (the owner). Both were extremely rude and did not want to correct the situation. They just repeated over and over that I was wrong and I must’ve gone to a different restaurant before. They blatantly spoke over me every time I tried explaining what I got in the package. I had to ask them to stop interrupting me several times. Macita’s used to be great but they don’t train their personnel well anymore. If they changed their system and couldn’t cut the damn chicharrón, they should’ve said something over the phone when I called and let me know this is new and being implemented from now on. Absolutely DISAPPOINTING. They’ve lost not just one customer but everyone in my family as well along with friends who I’ve come with here before who have also commented the same about poor service and lack of respect to the customer. If they continue this type of business model, pretty soon Macita’s won’t exist...
Read moreMy family and I have been patrons and fans of both Macitas (Hammocks and Cutler Ridge) restaurants for over 20 years but I must say the quality of the food at the Hammocks location has degraded to unacceptable levels. Their beans alone now just come with a few beans and primarily liquid. I thought this was an isolated incident but ordered food about a month later and it was the same issue. I could not ask for my food to be switch because I had ordered take out but I called the restaurant and was told this was how they came now. However, I just ordered the same dish from the Cutler Ridge location and the food was the usual, incredibly great Colombian cuisine I’ve come to expect from Macitas. I’m not certain if the Hammocks location is under different management but whomever is running the Cutler Ridge location should be made to oversee Hammocks if they don’t want that location ruining the reputation of this otherwise fantastic restaurant. BTW I will also be leaving a positive review for Cutler Ridge as the...
