We went here today for a late lunch.
First, the negatives:
The milk my daughter ordered, while great that it was Fairlife, was so tiny she finished it in about two gulps. She had nothing to drink while eating. The iced coffee did not deserve the name. I paid $2.95 for extremely watered down blonde coffee. I didn't drink more than a few sips. It was disgusting. The women's bathroom was very, very dirty. Granted, we got there 45 minutes before closing, but I don't think the water on the floor from the dual ceiling leaks was from that. Also, my door didn't have a hanger for my bag, so I had to switch stalls since the floor was full of water and also at the same time sticky. Also, a note: the handles for the water are reversed.
Now, the good:
Wow this food was amazing! I ordered the five (without gravy or butter) but I ate it all separately, except for the cheddar cheese, which tasted like melted rubber. Chicken was cooked perfectly and juicy (though not crispy skin, which is fine by me), the biscuit was cut with a fluted cutter which I found odd, but it was nice and fluffy anyway. The bacon was incredibly crispy, and though I prefer it not so burnt, was still good. Wish there was more than a single piece. Husband ordered the eggstremely risky biscuit. He says it was good. It had more gravy than there was biscuit, so there was a pile of the gravy left over when he was done. Daughter ordered the Grazer salad with no dressing (which shouldn't baffle the kitchen, by the way). She LOVED it. Strawberries nice and juicy, the goat cheese good, the bacon, crispy, the spinach: fresh. She calls it delicious!! The front clerk was very good at answering questions, especially about allergies. Should have asked about the coffee. While the idea of the question and answer system is cute in theory, I'm glad I had a child with me, since it's not very considerate of people with disabilities. Also, the kitchen had troubles understanding our answer. Very weird. Suppose this isn't really good or bad,...
Read moreOh what joy I have at Maple Street! Another staple that brings me back every time! The entire design and thought that they placed into the business is everything for me. Every time I visit the locations this one included the atmosphere is amazing. The store is so bright and shows a great sense of community. Everyone is smiling and laughing. They definitely hit the mark here with the business model.
They have something for everyone and more. I ordered the Five and Dime it had the best fried chicken breast, pecanwood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and a fried egg. Topped with our sausage gravy with a kick of shiitake mushroom gravy. Biscuits are made fresh right in the kitchen. Literally from scratch and I would know I stood there and watched them make them.
They do ask that you buss your own tables as part of the community rules and I like that. Still they have people who left a mess. No worries staff was standing by clearing off tables as needed. A little action on the customer part goes a long way! I interacted with the manager and he was such a delight. Always smiling and talking with guests and treating team members with respect. True leader in my eye.
There is a section to grab your favorite coffee off the shelf to take home as well. I don't drink too much coffee myself but many others do and were cleaning the shelves off for themselves and gifts for others. They even sell a maple tap to make your own maple syrup off a maple tree in your yard. So cool.
Overall Maple Street Biscuit Co. is one of my favorites in the Jacksonville area and I can't wait to...
Read moreWe hadn’t been to MSBC in quite a while. We visited on a weekday midmorning. We ordered at the counter and the counter clerk was nice and helpful but a bit of a low-talker. The dining room is all hard surfaces so it was loud, and that was our main problem. Instead of your name you answered a daily question. Although gimmicky that part is fine. What isn’t fine is once your order is ready, your tray is placed on a counter and your gimmick answer called out. The problem is the dining room volume and the counter person lackadaisical calling your order and walking away. Bad point one is the person walked away without verifying the order is for you. Bad point two is if you aren’t watching and listening closely you will miss out altogether. The solution is a microphone with a counter worker who enunciates and waits for the customer to retrieve the order. Now the good stuff. Our orders came out in a reasonable time. The orders were prepared well just as ordered. The egg-cheese-bacon biscuit was excellent. The egg was prepared hard as asked. The bacon is very tasty and savory. The biscuit was soft not crumbly. The five & dime was also excellent. Every element was prepared well and the serving size ample. The gravy is peppery, not spicy, but I didn’t think the pepper was excessive. Overall we were happy with our meals and the ordering process will not keep us...
