Update: my friends wanted poke, so I returned with them, and we had a much better experience dining in the restaurant versus the whole online order and pay/pick up in store experience I had recently. Very attentive and friendly customer service for our whole group. They did not have tap water-only bottled water- so I tried the bottled soft drink style Japanese lemon tea, and it was really good. And got my usual- a poke bowl, but with a yummy sweet garlic/mayo based sauce, which was delicious. And my friends were all happy with their choices too, which included the broccoli chicken, another poke bowl, hibachi steak combo and a couple of other meals I can’t remember the name of. I am glad I decided to return again for a much better experience. Original review: Normally I have a really good experience here- the food is really good and I have received friendly service, but today I ordered with the “pay in store” option, using their online ordering system. I am in my late 40s, and prefer to pay in person because I guess I am just used to it. The online system already has a convenience fee, which I had no issue with, and I always pay a tip in person- normally $2 for a small pick up order of two meals. As I hit submit, I noticed my order total had jumped by over $5, on top of the tax and small convenience fee I had already agreed to. There was no way to cancel it or go back and edit this to remove the $5.55 auto tip, and replace it with a reasonable tip for putting food in to containers and shoving it in a bag. (And by the way the hibachi steak container was not bagged separately and always leaks, getting liquid all over the napkins and plastic forks - which is especially important when one of us is allergic to the ingredients in the steak.) But back to the auto tip issue- I figured I would resolve it in store, but when I came in she was with another customer. She asked abruptly if I had ordered online- no usual greeting or smile- and I confirmed yes, and asked about condiments, which she pointed out. When it was my turn to pay the lady literally turned around and went in to the back of the restaurant, and there was no way on her machine to alter the tip total, either. She stayed in the back. I hovered around waiting for her to come out but she did not- she instead had her child prompt me to sign their copy and take my receipt. So I paid the full auto-added tip, which apparently is worth more to her than a satisfied customer and a positive review. I remember a time when leaving a tip gave me joy instead of frustration and it was considered up to me to determine what that...
Read moreI was happy this place opened in the Neighborhood Walmart plaza that we frequent, making it convenient for us. Have had the Boba teas (Mango & Thai) about 5 times & their food (hibatchi) the last 2 visits. Tonight we decided to have hibatchi dinners based on our last takeout visit that was good & very plentiful. I had the combination hibatchi with scallops & steak, expecting a even amount of each. However, it was all steak (tasted good & tender) & only 3 Scallops!!! For $18.00 I really would expect at least 3 more scallops, but I am thankful there were only 3 scallops because they were SPOILED! ROTTEN!! It was at the end of the night, 7:30pm, when I placed our to go order but, that is NO excuse to be serving spoiled food! I gave them a courtesy call to let them know, thinking that if they had any scallops left they would want to discard them immediately. However, they implied that I don't know what bad shellfish tastes like, telling me "we've sold these all day." That may be true, but I absolutely know spoiled shellfish/seafood when I taste it! They weren't going to do anything until I mentioned that I was calling them as a courtesy so they could get rid of the spoiled item, but maybe they rather the state come in to see them. Her tone changed quickly to sounding more "concerned." I honestly doubt any scallops will be removed from the place, but I know that I will NEVER order scallops from them again, if we ever return. For $66+ change for 3 people it is not worth the...
Read moreWOW - Really bad and so sorry because we would love for this place to be a good spot for takeout. Build your own poke bowl was ok except for the "protein" of tofu was inedible chunks of multi-fried brick. Maybe left over from two days ago? Also - "sorry but we are out of brown rice" when I picked it up. Wife not happy - me not happy. Shrimp Lo Mien was a box of noodles in an "Asian" sauce that tasted like the oil had been used too many times, with nothing but noodles and five shrimp - no veg or anything, along with HAIR in the dish. Whew... When I came for pickup at 8:30 on a Friday night the place REEKED of bad fish. Disappointing to say the least and should have moved on. Been open for a few weeks now - what does it take for someone to open a good place and not mail it in??? Are we just washing cash here, maybe covering up some "business" - or what???
I challenge everyone before me with the "great" reviews to try it again and...
