Yesterday, after having pizza for lunch right nearby, I spotted Mooyah! I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to check out a new place so I parked and headed toward the door. As it turned out, Bobbie, the GM, held the door open for me and invited me in. I took a look around and everything was clean and tidy. Turns out it was opening day! I regretted eating the pizza as I wanted to try the burger and fries, but I was stuffed. I spoke to Bobby for a while and learned that this all started in Plano, Texas and they are now 80+ locations strong. This Boca location is, I believe, the first of three Palm Beach County sites. Bobby described the certified Angus Beef, the homemade buns, and the homemade fries and chips. I told him I’d come back tomorrow, and I did! Today, I ordered The Mooyah Bacon Cheeseburger and made it a meal by adding the Mooyah fries and a drink. The burger came with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and Mooyah sauce. I added grilled onions too. In an age where so many places nickel-and-dime you for everything, the onions were free, as were a bunch of other toppings. Anything that has an additional charge is clearly displayed on the menu boards, so there are no surprises. The burger was delicious and cooked perfectly. The bun was noticiable special, soft, and tasty on its own. The sauce was present but not overwhelming and the burger needed no ketchup or anything else added. The dirty fries were great and perfect with ketchup, a small side of Mooyah sauce, or all by themselves! I’ll try a shake next time, but they have a great selection of beverages including a soda fountain, sweet and unsweetened iced tea, and fountains of berry drinks and a delicious lemonade with cane sugar and tumeric. I suggest an Arnold Palmer with two thirds lemonade and one third unsweet iced tea. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner! The staff was visible and attentive. Bobby stopped by a couple of times to make sure that we were enjoying everything and Jeda, who took our order at the counter was very friendly, knowledgeable, and answered any first time questions that we had. Over all, this was a great...
Read moreWe've enjoyed Mooyah on a few occasions, but the most recent experience was worth documenting in a review. I placed an order for pick up and arrived about 6 minutes before the estimated completion time. There was no one waiting at the counter, so I told the person at the counter that I was picking up an order for "Josh" and she said OK, it would be a few more minutes. I also asked for extra sauce on the side, which she acknowledged. Then she went behind to the kitchen area never to be seen again...There was a bag behind the counter marked for take-out, but I assumed it was for someone else.
I sat at the table right by the entrance talking on the phone while the food was being prepared. Finally after about 15-20 minutes, another person called out "Josh" and gave me the bag that had been sitting there the whole time. I asked him why I had to wait for an order that was ready to go, and he said he didn't know because he didn't speak to me earlier. I asked to speak to the lady who I originally encountered and he said "she's on break." Then I went full Karen and asked for the manager and told him that I was disappointed that no one seemed to care to check the order or acknowledge the inexplicable delay, and he said, "I'm sorry. I'll speak to her. She's new." No attempt to remake, reheat, or discount the order.
The burgers were good, barely warm, with wilted tomatoes and soggy fries. The veggie burger had a good char and savory, nutty taste that complimented the bun and sauces very well. I'm sure if they were fresh it would have been a solid 8/10. My reason for writing is that this establishment just doesn't seem to care much about the freshness of their food or the customer experience. There are many other fast-causal burger spots that will be getting our business moving forward.
EDIT: At your request, I submitted the issue to Mooyah support on 3/18. Was told I'd be contacted within 24-48 hours. It's been a week with...
Read moreI recently had an incredibly frustrating experience at Mooyah. I visited the restaurant on January 25th and ordered a total of four meals, with two of them having upgraded loaded fries. However, when I made it all the way home, I realized that the upgraded loaded fries I had paid extra for were missing. I immediately called the restaurant and explained this was one of the first times I'd eaten there and that I don't live nearby, so I don't frequent the location often. The staff was polite, and I was offered two loaded fries to redeem the next time I visited, with instructions to simply provide my name when I returned.
Fast forward to February 19th, when my family and I decided to return for takeout. We placed our order as usual, minus the loaded fries. I then called to redeem the missing fries, expecting to use the credit I was offered. To my surprise, I was met with resistance from a manager named Bobby. He argued with me, claiming I could have already redeemed my "credit" (which had not been noted in their system) and laughed at the suggestion of giving me the fries, implying that I could be trying to take advantage of the situation. To make matters worse, Bobby even suggested that I should just dispute the charge through my bank—completely unbelievable! I was completely shocked at the lack of professionalism.
When I requested to cancel my order, Bobby continued to refuse, claiming my takeout order was complete, even though I only placed it to get the food I was owed. Despite my frustration, he refused to refund me, and I was left with no resolution and an awful taste in my mouth—both literally and figuratively.
The way I was treated was disrespectful, and it is clear that Mooyah does not value customer service or follow through on promises. I won’t be returning anytime soon, and I urge others to think twice before choosing...
