Rice Bowl Asian House — Restaurant in Florida

First time here.. Randomly picked driving by. Monday Sept 18th 5pm (rather empty, but early Monday)

Ordered: Kani salad Sushi- Tuna, white tuna, yellow tail 6pcs Pink dragon roll

Kani salad arrived UNUSUALLY fast. It was warm and VERY dry. Asked for side of spicy mayo. Helped a little but anyone that loves kani salad knows how horrible they can taste when they aren't properly chilled!! 😭

Sushi was also warm making it unpleasant.

Pink dragon roll The tempura shrimp inside the roll tasted like it was fried 2x but refrigerated in between. It was INSANELY chewy. The batter also looked different. The ends with the shrimp tail, you could see allot of oil soaked into the batter. When I picked it up, sure enough it was oil logged. So the pink dragon roll was INEDIBLE!

The waitress was SUPER AMAZING and very apologetic. I felt bad complaining because I could even see her eyes tearing up. As a chef in this industry myself, I know how she feels.... she took off the roll from the bill. 🙏 That I expected... So far so good.

She then said she was gonna take off the kani salad and sushi but I insisted I was okay paying for them but when I got the bill, she removed them too 🥹❤️ She didn't have to do all that! So I made sure to leave a $25.00 tip on my $6.59 bill. ❤️ She continued apologizing and saying how she didn't want me to say anything that would "hurt her business" like THIS REVIEW! 😥 ..... SO why am I posting this review when I told her I wouldn't? After all of the apologizing she then said that: "MAYBE THE REASON I DIDN'T LIKE THE FOOD WAS BECAUSE OF MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE!!!" 😱 I took personal offense to this because I wasn't the only person eating the food that disliked it so that would be an odd coincidence for both of us to not like everything. I tried telling her I would definitely come back and try this place again but she kept apologizing so much I could barely speak or explain anything verbally to her.

Side observation The sushi chef seemed VERY bored as he was leaning against the wall on his phone(directly in front of where I was sitting). He would get an order: (my order for kani salad)....he threw it together SUPER FAST then went back to leaning against the wall on his phone. After I got the reduced bill, another gentleman that apparently worked there, went behind the sushi bar and began having a rather LOUD conversation back and forth with the sushi chef. This place has a great rating so I have a feeling tonight's service was just a bad night. VERY BAD. Hopefully when we go back we can try some of the 4.7⭐ food cuz that's what we were hoping for...

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. This is a long and descriptive review please read it if you want to know my experience.

I am not sure how this place was rated so highly. I am also starting to realize that people have never had good Asian food. The food was questionable to say at best. Is it worth your money? Personally I would say no way. Unless you like a ton of canned corn and massive portion sizes I would recommend elsewhere.

1/3 of meal and I kid you not was canned corn. This wasn't Asian food it was a canned corn factory. I repeat if you like canned corn go here.

On to the meat, I don't know what I ate. I ordered Teriyaki Beef and it was one of the blandest things I've had in a while. Dog food I've brought in Petsmart had more flavor and seasoning.

On to the salad. It was horrible to look at never mind eat. If you like your salad drenched in dressing then please go here. The reviews are seriously misleading on this place. The salad was made up of a few iceberg lettuces and 3 shredded carrots.

The lomein noodles were store brought Italian pasta. Anyone with access to a kitchen could whip something up better. We also ordered fried rice and that was pretty soggy. I thought fried rice had to be crispy but maybe I'm just insane. Rice was overcooked to oblivion and started transformationing into little squares. Food was indistinguishable to stay the least.

Let's move on to the health and safety. They need an inspection to stay the least. Floors and tables were messy and the chairs were sticky. Now my companions and I received the great pleasure of watching how they cleaned their silverware and plates. They have a SINGULAR sink. But they don't use that for cleaning. Oh no. The geniuses used plastic containers and a swishing motion to get off food, dirt, etc, to clean. The water from that singular sink was then boiled and the forks/knifes/etc were then sat in a tub boiling for less than a minute. It was then taken out of the tub and dried with what I believe is a hand towl but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Dave Ramsey or anyone with sanity would have a field day...

EDIT: I called the restaurant back as requested in their response and I was not offered a refund, but a $20 gift card. I was told that this is a family business and I should take my review down. I was also told that maybe I didn't like the food because of my mood when I was eating the food and my personal feelings that day. I was also told that I upset the owner because of my review and that they don't want ME to hurt their business. I wanted a refund, not a gift card to a restaurant I'm not willing to eat at again. Unprofessional response.

ORIGINAL POST: The food was mostly awful. Overcooked slop like fried rice, Bourbon Chicken was very dry chicken squares floating in a full bowl sauce, and I mean to the rim, seeping into the rice, making it like a thick soup like consistency. I ended up draining it and giving it go the dog.

Steamed Pot Stickers were good, dipping sauce also good.

Egg rolls outside was crunchy, but raw dough on the inside and the filling had some kind of meat or chicken or liver ground like sand, tasted like organs. No one wanted them.

The General Tso was ok, steamed white rice ok. The Crab Rangoon was HORRIBLE. it had thick yellow slimy sauce dumped over the fried Rangoon, absolutely gross. Why would they do that, I don't know but it was disgusting and unexpected.

Kids Chicken Lo Mein was abismal at best, tasteless and overcooked noodles. We won't be ordering anymore. $60 of garbage food. Waste of money. When will Bradenton ever get a good...
