I have never left a review before, but this place has left such a strong impression on me that I feel like it would be a crime not to.
We drove up and ordered a couple of items from the menu. As we were ordering we realized that it was a bit too pricey for us. 30$ for two appetizers, and sandwich and some wings is just too much. I tried to strike things from our order before the food was made, immediately running inside to remove my portion of the meal, as I could not afford my end. The woman I spoke with had a huge attitude, and became belligerent when I explained the situation to her. I told her I needed my items stricken from the order before our food was being made, directly after the order had been made, but her attitude and need to ask me all kinds of personal questions in following up had her striking the order late, and the food began to be prepared because she refused to tell the cook before hand. She was extremely rude with me, cursed at me twice, and tried to delete the entire order even after all of the explaining she made me do; knowing the other part of the order was not for me but someone else who was paying on their own. She made me explain to her again and again that I only wanted fries and the sandwich removed from that order, despite having told her specifically and clearly each time.
On top of the horrible way in which I was treated, the mushrooms and boneless wings were EXTREMELY over cooked. The chicken was so hard and chewy that she couldnt even bite through it. There also seemed to be crunchy bits inside of the breaded chicken. Parts of the mushrooms and breading were burned. The rest was seared a deep dark brown. The worst part is that because of the way I was already treated before hand, we were afraid of returning to the store location to show them what they had done and ask if they could fix it. 16$ for inedible, dried out, burnt up food is absolutely ridiculous.
First and absolute last time here. Cannot BELIEVE what we just...
Read moreThe menu says 8.99 for a #1 which is a fish and fries combo. I requested an additional piece of fish which I was told there would understandably be an upcharge. I also asked for okra in place of fries which was a $3.99 upcharge as well. I'm ok with all of this so far. I get to the window and I relayed that I had two pieces of fish because I only saw one on the receipt. But then I questioned my cost because the #1 combo was 9.99. It was explained to me that somewhere on the menu it stated there is an upcharge for basa. No problem. Maybe I just didn't see it. I suggest that this is placed near the combo so customers will be aware of the upcharge. They charged me 4.33 for an additional piece of fish. Again, that's what I wanted so I paid for it. All in all my 8.99 meal with all of the upcharges was close to $20. I have no problem paying for a quality meal. However, the photos don't depict quality. Both pieces of fish were undercooked. And the second piece they didn't even bother to season. I actually went back in for the seasoning which you can see in the pic. I understand that the drive thru is designed to be fast paced and even though when you go to this location the drive thru wait time is less than desirable. But if the food were of a caliber that warranted the wait, I'd complain less. I waited about a week to decide if I would review it or not. Ultimately, I decided that not only should future customers know about the restaurant but so should the management. I actually parked went in to request the seasoning for the fish. The manager on duty is the person who took my payment, so it would stand to reason that if I'm now standing in uor restuarant that I'm probably not happy. She didn't even acknowledge me other than a questionable gaze. One of the cashiers asked could she help me and gave me the seasoning. The price I paid was no where near indicative of the quality I received. Judge...
Read moreHoly Fish Sandwiches, Batman! I just had a religious experience at Salem's Fresh Eats, and it came in the form of their Grilled and Fried Fish Sandwiches. If you're not running out of the door and speeding down to Salem's after this review, what are you even doing with your life?
First up, the Grilled Fish Sandwich. This beauty was so perfectly seasoned, I almost started a slow applause after the first bite. Soft bun, juicy, tender fish, and a char that made me wanna call the chef a magician. Seriously, this sandwich felt like summer and a beach vacation had a delicious baby. Fresh veggies, melty cheese--it's like your taste buds are throwing a pool party, and EVERYONE'S invited. I'm talking "fireworks in your mouth" kinda deal.
But HOLD UP! As if that wasn't enough, I also dove headfirst into the Fried Fish Sandwich. O.M.G. It's crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and that crispy golden crust? Let me tell you, it's the stuff dreams are made of. One bite and I was ready to throw a parade in honor of this culinary masterpiece. This sandwich is the definition of comfort food. It's like getting hugged by a warm, crispy fish blanket that makes you feel all fuzzy inside.
These fish sandwiches didn't just satisfy my hunger--they changed my life. In fact, they were so incredible that we ordered them TWO DAYS IN A ROW. I didn't even know it was possible to crave something this hard, but Salem's made it happen. Honestly, they could bottle the flavor and sell it as happiness in a sandwich.
Salem's, you owe me some new jeans because these sandwiches were so good, I literally ate my way into a food coma. Five stars, ten thumbs up, ALL the applause!
