This is about the 10th time or more of visiting the scooters location when we come into town we typically start here or finish at scooters when we're heading out of town. The food has always been pretty good but this time we were encountered with very poor food handling food, handling and customer service. As I was sitting to wait for my food to finish out for a to go order for my family, I happen to look up and noticed that they were not using gloves, and when I asked the manager on duty, he said that I was being aggressive, and that I was hovering his station when I was simply just waiting for my order but again I had noticed that the person was not using sanitary measures and I asked him if that was my food that they were cooking and I knew by the number of boxes in order that it was my food and I said I did not want that food. I wanted it to be remade with gloves on. I was told that they do not have to follow by CDC any protocol of wearing gloves and that actually, they thought it was more sanitary to not wear gloves It makes us sick to think that we have it here this many times, and that we are in the food service industry ourselves and have encountered this where other people are getting food, and could possibly be contaminated with fish to chicken dinners or tacos are people who have a seafood and tolerance and called cross-contamination I was completely appalled by the way that I was treated and also told I was being aggressive and then I asked for a refund and I was shorted for my refund and I had to go back in and ask for my other about if I could give zero stars I would this is not OK not only did they gave me $100 back they wasted $100 worth of food and my time so overall it was a loose for everybody. I recommend if you do go in and watch , you will see them not using gloves and maybe will change your mind and eat somewhere...
Read moreWe had heard really good things about this restaurant and love seafood. When we walked in and looked at the menu up on the wall come with the choices were very slim and the prices seem pretty high, considering we found out that they did not use a waitress. You ordered from a window and then they called your number when your food was ready so everything was self service. I paid $22 for four oysters and four shrimp and two little pieces of fish some fries and coleslaw, which by the way was great coleslaw. My oysters were overcooked meaning they were pretty much nothing but breading and the fish was so thin there was no fish taste. The shrimp were delicious. My wife spent $16 for a shrimp plate and was pleased with her food. I ordered a glass of water with my meal and the plastic cup they gave me was so small I could barely get two or three drinks out of a glass and had to keep going back to the Fountain to get more water. The atmosphere was small town which is what we like. They offered their Seafood plate and fried or grilled and I asked if I could have it all fried except for the fish which I want to grilled and they told me how I would have to order it a la carte to get it that way and pay $5 more money. So it's pretty obvious that we will not be going back there and that saddens me because I like dealing with Mom and Pop...
Read moreWent in for take out. Been a few weeks since I was here previously. I was the only one in the place when I ordered. Waited 10 min and three people came in to dine in. They ordered and sat down. 10 minutes later they got their food which was all fried. I got 3 grilled tacos and hush puppies. When asked why my tacos were not done I was rudely asked if I wanted a refund. And that the cashier wasn’t going to deal with me. When I said I just want my food. And that grilled fish takes less time to prepare than fried. She asked again if I wanted a refund. When my food came out she slammed my bag on the counter and said there you go. I have never been so offended being a local. Management needs to take a hard look at your staff at the register and get the attitude in check before you have this kind of issue with others. I will most likely never go back. And Scooters has been my go to for fish tacos for over 10 years. As a local this is very disappointing to be treated like I was a problem. Even called after I got home and cooled off so not to say anything in anger. The same girl answered the phone that gave me grief. Said she was one of the managers. If this is true I feel sorry for the owner. Your tacos are still good. Service and staff attitude...
