I was very impressed during my first visit = surprisingly good food, good service. Subsequent visits have been less impressive - basically average = average or good food & good service. Tonight’s visit was disappointing = below average service and food. Tonight, unintentionally and unfortunately arrived within 30 minutes of closing time. When we arrived, other tables were seated, including one slightly large party of around 10 people for a birthday. I suspect the proximity to closing time and the day of the week (Sunday) negatively impacted tonight’s visit. The appetizer was mostly raw. The same appetizer has been undercooked on previous visits, but it had multiple large raw areas tonight. The noodle dish entrée was very subpar. It was Not at all as described on the menu (japanese noodle spinach onion scallion bean sprouts napa cabbage - it had None of those items). With minimal effort in the microwave using prepackaged food at home, I could have made something much better. The raw fish in the sushi was aged. It had the slightly off flavor of older fish, but was okay - basically average for this market and this tier of restaurant. The wait staff was polite, but did everything possible to shove us out the door as fast as possible during our barely 30 minute visit = remove plates while actively consuming things on them, mop around feet, etc. Consider turning off the Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tubeman and large, multicolor, flashing LED OPEN sign out front if one doesn’t want the...

Read moreThe epitome of mediocre. Craved sushi for lunch and drove to the closest spot with a good review score. Unfortunately the reviews overestimate this restaurant.
I would expect a restaurant with nearly four and a half stars to lay down some dishes with robust flavor that same you wanna eat forever. Unfortunately the food was so average I was happy to be done.
Before specifics I want to compliment the staff; they were very friendly, courteous, and prompt. And the atmosphere of the restaurant is very cute. Unfortunately it is not enough to save itself from its menu.
I got two specialty sushi rolls and they barely tasted any better than a basic roll. They didn’t have that savory, mind-melting flavor that the best sushi rolls have that keep you coming back for more. They were totally uninspired. While they weren’t full of flavor, they also weren’t chewey or under/overcooked. The preparation and presentation was fine.
My wife got the steak and fried rice, and that too lacked any soul. The rice was literally just fried rice; practically no egg, and no vegetable medley that offers traditional fried rice its robust flavor. The steak, while cooked properly, lacked proper seasoning.
It wasn’t BAD food, but it wasn’t good. This restaurant has potential, just needs to update its recipes. Once it does, it will be an absolute diamond in the...
