P.S. The Mexican Coca-Cola is smooth and surprisingly refreshing. Also, they were about to close and they reopened to accept my family and me. This was a surprise and was the touch that made us...

As a passionate aficionado of authentic Mexican cuisine, I eagerly heeded Suly Rivas's recommendation of her establishment as the go-to spot for Carne en su Jugo. With Orlando's rich culinary diversity, I was hopeful that I had finally stumbled upon a hidden gem that could satiate my craving for this regional delicacy.
Anticipation mounting, I took the initiative to call ahead on Mother's Day Sunday to confirm the availability of Carne en su Jugo. The young lady who answered confidently assured me that the dish was indeed on the menu and ready to be savored. With excitement coursing through my veins, I embarked on an hour-plus journey, eagerly anticipating the culinary delight awaiting me at the end of the road.
However, upon arrival, my excitement quickly turned to dismay. To my utter disbelief, Carne en su Jugo was conspicuously absent from the menu. Confused and disheartened, I approached our server and explaining that I had specifically called ahead for this dish. After a brief consultation with the kitchen, she returned with the disheartening news – Tacos N Grill did not have the necessary ingredients to prepare Carne en su Jugo.
Visibly frustrated and feeling utterly misled, I couldn't help but express my disappointment. How could there be such a glaring breakdown in communication between the young lady's assurance over the phone and the reality on the ground? It was not only a complete waste of my time and resources but also a profound letdown for my taste buds, eagerly anticipating the promised culinary experience.
In that moment, any semblance of desire to return to Tacos N Grill evaporated. If this was the level of disorganization and disregard for customer satisfaction on my inaugural visit, I shuddered to think what future encounters might entail. For now, I'll be taking my appetite elsewhere, in search of a restaurant that values its patrons' time and upholds its...
Read moreThe restaurant itself was very clean, well maintained, and had beautiful hand-painted Mexican murals on the walls, which added to the ambiance. The single employee on duty was attentive and promptly greeted us, providing menus, tortillas and bean dip right away. We asked for Cokes and were given the option of canned or bottled Mexican Coke. We opted for bottled Mexican Coke, which was a nice touch, although we later realized fountain drinks were available at a potentially lower cost.
We ordered a total of 6 tacos, 4 carne asada, and 2 Pastor, choosing the regular guacamole over the spicy option. The food arrived quickly after ordering, but unfortunately, I was not overly impressed. The soft tortillas on the tacos were a bit doughy, cold, and didn't seem to have been grilled before serving. The meat, although well-seasoned, was on the dry side. The guacamole, while tasty, was a bit watery and tended to run off the tacos as we ate. The Pastor meat had good flavor but suffered from the same dryness issue.
I had heard great things about this place from friends, but my personal experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The final bill for 6 tacos and 2 Cokes came to $29.95, which is on par with other Mexican restaurants in the area. Just a heads up, parking is limited to about 6-7 vehicles and can be a little tight, so plan accordingly. EDIT- I have been informed that there is additional parking in the rear. I cannot confirm nor deny this but felt obligated to add this info to my review.
Overall, my visit to Taco's N Grill was a mixed bag. While the establishment was visually appealing and the service was prompt, the food fell short of expectations. Perhaps it was just an off day for the chef. Regardless, I wanted to provide an unbiased review for those...
