Tainos Bakery & Deli (east colonial) — Restaurant in Alafaya

We came here on a Saturday afternoon, and we ordered in the bakery, so we can see what pastries they have left. Unfortunately, the woman who served us seem disinterested, and she seem confused every time we would ask questions about the menu.

♡ Submariqueso. 3/10! Unfortunately, I did not like this sandwich. I ordered this because I was expecting something delicious and cheesy, but this was not it. The mozzarella cheese was VERY lacking, and some pieces of meat were rubbery and chewy. The only thing I liked about the sandwich was the bun. The mallorca bun was soft and had a nice hint of sweetness to it.

♡ El Taino Premium Burger with Fries. 7/10! Bf ordered this, and his first thought was that the burger is BIG! It’s a good value for the size. He said that the burger was good, and that he like that it came with a side which was nice. The fries were also tasty and flavorful.

♡ Iced Coffee with Pumpkin Spice. 6/10! I saw that they had this in their online menu, but when I inquired about it in-store, the woman said that they didn’t have it. It wasn’t until another worker came by, and he said that they do have pumpkin spice syrup in the back. Anyways, the iced coffee was just alright. A little bitter. Nothing special.

♡ Bizcocho de Novia. 5.5/10! The cake was a little too sweet for our liking. The cake did retain its moisture even after a day of keeping it in the fridge which we liked. The icing was sweet and complemented the cake. However, we probably wouldn’t order this one again due to its simplicity.

♡ Bizcocho de Nutella. 7.5/10! Bf and I preferred this cake over the house cake. The chocolatey flavor was decadent and rich. We also liked the addition of nuts on top. Overall, it had more complexity over the house cake which ultimately made it more special.

I been going to Taino’s Bakery in the BVL location forever and it’s amazing have never had a problem whatsoever, if anything the complete opposite. They always go out of their way to satisfy their customers. HOWEVER I must say due to where I was located at the moment, I had to come visit this location instead. Would’ve never imagined based on how good my experience has been that another location could be so bad. I gotta say I was so sure of it, this buy was for approximately $70 I got 3 different desserts & they were ALL extremely hard, I had never had such old desserts. And I bought 6 empanadas. 3 pizza & 3 chicken. The pizzas were okay, although not too fresh. BUT the CHICKEN ones, oh my! They tasted as bitter as the cashier, but they also stunk in such a way, my husband noticed immediately, after getting home and warming it up , the WHOLE kitchen and living room smelled like rotten. If that wasn’t bad enough I called them to nicely advise about the inconvenience & one of the cashiers notified & accepted they been having trouble with their fridges, then when she proceeds to transfer me to the manager, she was putting excuses and saying their stuff was fresh, asking the most and refusing to take responsibility as needed. After all I ended up losing about $35-40 due to their negligence & horrendous customer service. Don’t judge all Taino’s, if you want good food go to BVL location & forget about this...
