Taps Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Florida

Haven't eaten in the restaurant but our first and only experience was getting takeout. We called about 5:30 since I would be passing by around 6:15 thinking they might be busy being as it was Mother's Day. They said it would be ready in 15- 20 mins so we made sure to tell them I wouldnt be by until 6:15. It was only about half full but I stood at the host stand for about 10 minutes with another couple and were passed by several times by employees saying someone would be with us shortly. Finally, I was directed to the bar for takeout. I should have figured that but you can never be sure. The bartender was quick to help me out, though. We had ordered 3 meals including a salad. I was surprised that the takeout meals came in what looked like kids' shoe boxes without any kind of liner or wax paper or anything, including the salad, sandwiched between the 2 hot meals. I understand going "green" but plastic is recyclable too! At least, through a liner in there! Of course, the ticket said it was put in at the time we called so we ended up with 3 luke warm meals, including the salad. By the way, they left out the dressing. I dont mind cardboard boxes if Im ordering a big mac or a pint of Chinese food, but not from a restaurant and especially not a salad. Hard to say if the food was any good after sitting for 30 mins plus my commute home, but was unappetizing out of a cardboard box and felt overpriced with small protions. Taps Bar and Grill is a bit of a mix between a sports bar and a sit-down restaurant, and it does both pretty well. The bar area is definitely the heart of the place—lots of TVs, high-top seating, and a crowd of regulars hanging out at lunchtime. But if you’re looking for a quieter meal, there’s also a separate dining area with booths and tables, plus some outdoor seating. The exterior isn’t much to look at (they could use better signage or some color), but inside, it’s got a clean, upscale bar-and-grill feel.

Service was great—our server, Katlynn, was friendly, energetic, and on top of refills. A nice bonus: they’re linked to South in Nocatee, so if you’re part of their rewards program, you can earn points here too.

The food? Pretty solid. My wife had the fish sandwich (more guppy-size than a large fish) but was a good portion for lunch. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was really good, especially with the different BBQ sauce options. I also liked that I could swap fries for spinach for a small upcharge—nice to have a healthier option.

Pricing was fair—lunch ran us less than $20 per person with a drink. Overall, it’s a good, casual spot for a bite, especially if you like a lively bar atmosphere with decent food and good service.

Taps is AMAZING for their salads...! Yep, a sports bar that does amazing salads. All their food is as farm-to table/homemade as possible. However, their salads with fabulous housemade dressings are the best and most bountiful in the area. From the 'artisan type' greens to the delicious croutons (housemade) and the marinated chicken breast (Steak and shrimp available too) makes this (get the salad over with) guy a go to staple. Their fabulous barbecue sandwich, gyro with housemade tzatziki sauce all come with a huge side salad option for a $1.50 upcharge. That's a filling bargain! The dessert special was also delicious with its housemade cinnamon infused biscuits. Taps is one of only three or four medium-priced restaurants in the area that I could eat at 6 days a week. Follow -up recently (two days ago), STILL THE SAME ol' quality of food! Love those salads and Philly cheesesteaks ! Taps is still awesome ! I've modified this review elsewhere because Taps seemed to have a few months there that there was always something uncharacteristically disappointing each time we went.
