We were a party of three, never having dined at The Grill before. It's a beautiful view from the restaurant and you can watch the boats as they travel the river. We arrived about 11:30 and were seated pretty quickly, given menus and asked for our drink orders. There was no hot tea available so my husband had iced. My request for a diet Coke met with the fact that they were out. When the waitress returned with our drinks, our son ordered the cheese curds. They were a while coming, but they were plentiful and good. Long story short . . . My husband ordered a Buffalo Chicken pizza, I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with onion rings and our son ordered a pulled pork sandwich with fries. It was nearly fourty minutes before our food arrived. There was only one table seated before us and then the lunch crowd started. Our waitress was very pleasant and said our order would be up soon. It wasn't her fault. My husband's pizza was very dry and cold. My chicken sandwich looked good, but it was without the mayo, the meat was pounded very thin and was fried too long and I ended by just eating the chicken and leaving the rest. My onion rings were fries instead and I asked for the replacement. When they finally arrived they were cold and greasy. Our son seemed to like his pulled pork sandwich. I'd say the fault lies with management as there were only a couple of wait staff for at least 30 people. The cook(s) were either bad or understaffed. Sorry for the wordy review, but I've not ever found reason to complain before. I'd say we won't return. Seventy dollars is a bit much for a...
Read moreA couple of points that may be helpful- first, this is an informal sit down dining while the other restaurant on site is counter service and slower overall (but still good). Second, the menu could be clearer- the sandwiches come with your choice of side and toppings even though the menu says neither of those things (premium toppings listed separately cost more) and unfortunately this forces the wait staff to explain more than they should have to. The waitress was very friendly and patient while we sorted that out and throughout the entire meal. My wife got a grilled chicken sandwich, which was huge and excellent. I got a cheeseburger that was good but not great (still worth it). Their fries were great, full 5 out of 5 hands down. If you look at the website it says it has a water view, but just to be clear it is extremely unlikely that you would see manatees from the restaurant, the water view is an overlook of the boat launch. It is still a nice view, but don't expect to see manatees while you have your burger. Generally you see places like this jack their prices up because they are in a park and you don't have much option, and I didn't feel like that was the case at all. Other than their menu needing clarification, for an in-park restaurant, there isn't much to...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible. Waitress was rude never bothered asking if we needed refills. We waited over an hour for our food and watched 3 tables get their food before us, even though they came in after us. She walked past us several times and said nothing. Didnt apologize for the wait. After saying "they definitely got here after us", loud enough for her to hear, did she come over and say she FORGOT to put ours in or the system messed up. Offered nothing for our troubles, not even a refill of the drinks that were clearly empty.
Arrived at 150pm and still have yet to be served and it's 250pm. 1/18/2025
Next time I visit hopefully the restaurant/takeout on the other side opposite the visitors center is open. We were here in July and it was a fabulous experience! Polar opposite...
