My wife and I loved this place, we always sat at the bar outside and enjoyed the good service from the bartenders Sam and I think her the girl name is Amy , also always enjoy the drinks and the food. But, yesterday we left very disappointed, the restaurant was very busy (outside) and we had to sit in the Inside bar, it was not a problem for us, until we realized that we had been almost 10 minutes without the bartender saying something to us, giving us a menu. We weren’t mad at first because we're both part of this industry and we know how busy it can be behind a bar, but literally this bartender was just doing circles, he wasn't doing anything. After a long time he asks us what we want to drink, and we ask him for a menu first, he got upset and he took his time to give it to us. Then, after a while he asks us again, and he gets angry when we tell him our drinks (why are you working as a bartender if you don't like making cocktails?) He started making circles again and told us that he had no ingredients to make one of the drinks. which was not a problem, I told him to just make my wife's mojito (she was already offended by the way this guy treated us) he asked if she had her ID and when she is going to look for it he says "that's enough” he gave us to understand that he didn't need to see it, then again he starts making circles doing nothing and rudely says"do you have your ID or not "my wife shows it to him and then he says disrespectfully things that I just decided that it was enough, obviously this guy wasn't going to give us good service. In all this story 20 minutes passed and we didnt have our drinks. Obviously this guy was on drugs at the time, I repeat my wife and I are also in this industry we know how difficult and hard it is but there is no single excuse to treat a guest like this guy did. We’re not going to stop going to this restaurant because it is a great place but when this bartender is not the one serving. Honestly this is my first bad review, but I think it is fair...
Read moreWe used to be regulars at Parrot Sarasota—pretty much every Friday or Saturday with my husband and our girls. It was always packed, the vibe was great, and the food was reliably good. But we hadn’t been since March (life got in the way), and when we finally went back last Thursday around 8pm, everything had changed—and not in a good way.
First, it was really quiet, the quietest we’ve ever seen it. The waiter forgot our drinks completely, so my husband ended up going to get them himself. After that, the waiter brought my husband a drink he hadn’t even ordered. I had a strawberry mojito was gross, just tasted strange. When the server later brought refills for my daughter’s, he reached right across my plate as I was eating to place the drinks down. It just felt careless and unprofessional.
But the biggest issue? The food. I ordered my usual Jack Daniel’s chicken with fries. What arrived looked nothing like it used to. The chicken was thin, the portion was small, smothered in cheese with hardly any sauce, and just looked unappetizing. The fries were clearly the burnt scraps from the bottom of the fryer, and the vegetables—sliced carrots and pickles—were soggy and strange. My family’s meals weren’t any better—poorly presented and bland. One of my daughters didn’t even eat her burger. We were all really hungry, so we tried to eat what we could, but it was disappointing all around.
To make things worse, I woke up the next morning with an upset stomach.
I took my daughters to the bathroom and as we were approaching, a man came out of the women’s restroom. He wasn’t an employee, and it really freaked out my 10-year-old daughters, just another sign of how uncomfortable the whole experience had become.
It’s honestly baffling. Even when this place was packed, they always got it right. But now, on a quiet night, it was the worst we’ve ever experienced. To top it off we all got bit to death by mosquitoes!
After loving it for so long, it’s heartbreaking to say, but we won’t...
Read moreWent to The Parrot during Hurricane Helene as it was one of the only places open due to the storm. My daughters ordered 2 Shirley temples, and the server forgot to put grenadine in one, I asked her to bring us a new drink with the grenadine mixed in, but she gave me an attitude and brought us out a side of grenadine for my daughter to add it herself instead. Then my daughter ordered blackened mahi mahi but when it came out, there was no blackening on it. The server said she would bring us out a side of blackening for my daughter to sprinkle it on too, and gave me an attitude when I asked her to please just bring us a new piece of fish with the blackening cooked onto it, like we had ordered. She rolled her eyes and took the plate. Within a few minutes, a different server brought us out the same piece of fish, but overcooked because they had just added the blackening to the fish and then seared it on, thus overcooking it. When I asked for someone to please get us a new piece of fish, a manager came out and argued with me about how they weren’t going to give us a new piece of fish and only added the blackening. I told her it was overcooked now as a result, and she threw some major attitude at me and said, “fine, I’ll just bring you a new piece of fish then.” I thanked her, as that is exactly what we had requested to begin with. We finally got my daughter’s meal, but her sides were cold as they hadn’t given her any new sides; even with the extended back and forth over the dark fish. She’s enjoying her meal, and my other daughter is enjoying her fish and chips, but the attitude we got from numerous employees here, including the manager, is unacceptable. I’ve been a server my entire life, and have had to work during Xmas and my bday, as well as all other holidays, and during hurricanes, and there’s absolutely zero reason to throw so much attitude at guests. Glad they were open, but very disappointed in the way we...
