The staff was very nice and friendly. Unfortunately the food was terrible. I started with Miso soup which I order in every restaurant I visit that has it. This was the worst Miso I have ever had and probably in the top 3 worst soups I've eaten in my life. I didn't finish 80pct of it. Thankfully it was only 1.75 Next, we shared Gyoza which was the only thing that was... ok. It was very crispy and deep fried a little too long, though it was probably for the best considering the rest of the meal. My wife ordered steak hibachi and the "meat" was over-cooked, dry, and lacking flavor (calling it steak is a bit of a stretch). The rice was mediocre. The broccoli florets were puny and limp. The accompanying dipping sauce was way too sweet. I ordered the deluxe sushi plate that comes with an assortment of sashimi and a spicy tuna roll. The rice on the roll was very dry like it was premade days ago. The sashimi concerned me but I ate it anyway. There was still bits of skin on the white fish, the octopus was very tough and did not taste fresh, the tuna was dripping with pink water, and all of it tasted frozen not fresh. In fact, the tuna was a little crystaline from either not being fully thawed (meaning it was frozen) or is on the verge of freezing. If you have never been here and don't want to heed my warning at least start with a single piece of sashimi to test the quality. Price was cheap, but I wouldn't go back for the same food even if it was free. The dining room is pretty bad too. It's so small that it would take almost no money to make it look nice, at least then they would have something to offer. It's too bad because I was hoping to be impressed and they really were nice people, but that doesn't mean they should be in the restaurant business. I hope they can turn it around. I only went here based on it having 4.5 stars. Now that I look at the reviews better I see that most of the 5 star ratings are by people from whom this is their one and only review. Something not quite right...
Read moreI love this place.
Located on the far corner of the Publix plaza across from the Home Depot, this family-owned hole-in-the-wall is a surprising treat. This place isn't fancy - it is set-up much like what you'd see at a Chinese takeout - but it is clean, comfortable, and has plenty of seating. So if you're looking for a romantic place, this isn't where I'd recommend. If you're looking for tasty American-style Japanese food for great prices, this is the place to go, because the food is awesome.
Lots of Sushi choices on the menu, as well as hibachi options (steak, chicken, shrimp, squid), teriyaki and tempura dishes, several soups, and some great appetizers. They offer much of what you would get at big Japanese-style steakhouses for the same quality but for much less money. Granted, you lose the hibachi chef "floor show", but still get all the flavors.
The family who owns it is very friendly and service is excellent. Walk-in carryout or dine in, and open on Christmas. Definitely...
Read moreThey dont ever have to worry about me coming back here!!! did not get ANY chicken in my chicken, shrimp, steak mei fun. The 3 pieces of shrimp that was in there, 2 were very very mushy and inedible. The steak was extremely tough and you had to chew it forever in order to swallow it. The batter that the J &J roll was fried in was so very thick and it caused the roll to be thick and gooey instead of having a thin crispy outer layer. It was gross and unappealing. There was no soy sauce and the extra I had to pay for yum yum sauce that I did not get also! The Godzilla roll was good though. There is so much more that could be said about their food...let's just say most of my family threw it in the garbage and went to chic fil a. I spent over $100 and would have expected the food to be better and to have...
