Stopped into Yummies on Tamiami Trail in Venice Florida this morning to get a dozen donuts for a family treat breakfast. WOW, what a mistake. Everywhere else you can purchase a dozen quality donuts for between $10.and $12., but certainly not here. Imagine my surprise when after picking out my 12 donuts the clerk says "that will be $24. dollars. Are you kidding me? $2 dollars per donut? Publix bakery department offers their home made donuts at 80 cents apiece and dunkin donuts offers the same. What in the world does this Yummies bakery think by charging $2.dollars per donut? Especially when the donut is not even as good ad what you can buy at Publix fo less than half the price. Their donuts are about as heavy as can be and would be better served as sinkers for fisherman. Obviously this place, like many other establishments, in a resort area survives by screwing tourists as they know they won't be back but come on, it is unconscionable to rob people 2 dollars each for a very poor quality donut. I know I will not go back and hopefully this review will warn and prevent others from learning the hard way that "yummies donuts" are just...
Read moreI’m honestly rather surprised that there are so many high scores. The friendliness (wonderful!!) does not match the quality of food at all. So many things wrong! The biscuits and gravy had no flavor. The biscuit is not a biscuit, it is a croissant. Both my husband and I both ordered this and both of ours were incredibly freezer burnt tasting. It’s possible that it is all homemade, but it was certainly not fresh! On top of that, I had a black hair in my gravy. 🤮 Hubby convinced me not to say anything because “accidents happen”. Onto the donuts...the glazed is meh. The apple fritter was hard on the outside and the inside! Lastly, hubby ordered a sticky pig to take home because it was recognized on the food network. The meat was absolutely disgusting and full of so much fat. Their “homemade” sauce tasted just like store bought. It really was such a shame. You would think with all the articles and awards that adorn the walls that it would be good. The fact that it was dead in a Saturday morning should have said something. Yummies may have been good once, but...
Read moreI'm all about supporting local businesses, by all means. However, I just tryed Yummies and was very disappointed. The staff was very sweet and friendly. I sampled the pulled pork and it seemed tasty so I ordered it with a Peach Smoothie. When my sandwich came I bit into it and bit into a big peice or cartilage with meat attached. There was also gristle in the sandwich. The nice lady gave me another one without the extras. The pork was probably the worst I've ever had. No flavor, and needed at least salt. They had no hot sause and the BBQ sause was just store bought sause added. In the middle of eating my sandwich finally my smoothie came. I ordered the peach..I couldn't even drink half it tasted like dishwashing liquid. The lady said it was the first one she had ever made and didn't know how..thats why it took so long..2 sandwiches and 2 drinks was 24 dollars. Maybe the donuts are better? So high prices and bad food. I do not recommend Yummies and would...
