We were driving around looking for a pizza joint and landed in this one as we were driving by. It looked like a “hole in the wall” secret so we saw great reviews and stopped.
The first thing I really liked was the hostess/server was upfront about the wait. She didn’t give us a time just “the 7 top has their check and they may or may not be getting up soon. It depends on them”. I like that more than 15-30 minutes for some reason.
We had 3 adults and 4 kids. When we were seated we got our drinks pretty quick and watched everyone around us enjoying their food so it was a good atmosphere. I’m in construction so I always have to look at the vents and stuff which were dripping with disgusting grease/debris and who knows what else but that’s very common so I don’t really care. It’s just so easy to clean and sticks out everywhere I go.
We ordered: 3 - kids personal pans 1 - Kids Alfredo 1 - Large Works half with added green olives
The waitress was very accommodating and seemed to be spread thin. That’s pretty much where the good experience ended.
After 15 minutes the Alfredo came out from a different young gal. 8 minutes later two of the kids pizzas came out. 5 minutes after that the next kid’s pizza came out and then 45 minutes after we ordered the large pizza came out. We watched two tables get seated after we had ordered and finished our appetizer. Those two tables were served, ate, and paid the check before we got our pizza.
We asked one of the younger servers what the deal was. She said she would check and then she went and bussed tables. We asked our server what’s going on with the pizza “they still haven’t brought it out? I don’t know why they screwed up the timing like this”. I don’t know who “they” are but from order to eating quick because the kids were staring at us; it was a one hour and 10 minute experience.
I can always look beyond mediocre food and I’m compassionate about being busy and we aren’t the star of the show but even I was having a hard time not wondering if we were in some hidden camera show.
The server tried and she did comp one of the kids meals which is fine but the damage was done and comping the only thing that showed up nearly on time was weird.
The pizza was good. Unfortunately we ate ours with an already sour taste so I’m guessing it was better than what we actually consumed. The kids personal pan is huge. Garlic knits were great. It may be because I don’t like olives but it seemed like you either got 5 on one piece (which I can deal with) or an entire fistful (not an exaggeration). Topping distribution was way off but the crust was spot on. It had a great chew and was cooked perfectly.
Even if I did want to give them a second chance; the rest of the family wouldn’t allow it. If you’ve read it this far; give their carry out a chance and everyone around me appeared to have a good experience. So, this is likely an isolated incident; just speak up early if your pizza goes MIA. I added a pic to show the timestamps. We were seated 12 minutes before it was made and were rushing to eat 10 minutes or so after the check was printed. Sitting for over an hour on non padded benches was awful. I would probably...
Read moreAnd again you disappoint… really sad when you give someplace another chance an it just makes you wish so much you had never come back. The sandwich Italian sandwich is not good a the balsamic just awful they must have added oil or something it wasn’t any balsamic I have ever seen or tasted very very oily. The sandwich was huge with cheap meat an the cheese tastes sour. When the picture looked so nice with a nice sandwich bread but wasn’t what i got. The fries were ok but no ketchup or anything, The pizza was alright but nothing great pretty thin an small for 15$ . My boyfriend liked his meatball sandwich so there’s that . But to top it off they forgot my terramasu. Then they did the worst thing a business can do they force a credit on you never offer a refund. So they assume I want to come back which I absolutely Do not. They deliver they could have offered to deliver to me as I spent almost 50$ but nope it was either you come get it or we will credit you. I truly should have said said forget it I’m not coming back. It just makes me so mad you forget something I PAID FOR an they don’t even offer me my money back. Wow wow wow. 4 years later an wish I hadn’t tried again.
I usually love this place but after today will probably never go back. I mean I know we all are struggling in this covid 19 thing but to trick an RIP people off is just sad an loses my respect fast. Today I called an ordered a medium tripple pepperoni pizza now mind you they have 4 sizes an like any Italian place I figured small, medium, large , an 18in is extra large!!! Well nope they now have personal pan, personal pan pizza plus, small, medium, and large. So now they can call a 16in a medium an charge you 22.95 when a 14in is a typical medium pizza an you can google that to check. Like are you kidding me. An the grease is just disgusting it literally soaked thru the box. Really really DISSAPOINTED me as I have never heard of a personal pan pizza plus. But wanted to warn people if you call an just say medium pizza you are getting a huge pizza an...
Read moreWe had been hearing all the wonderful reviews of Big Mike's and thought we would give it a try. We placed a delivery order of Garlic Knots, Honey Garlic Wings, a small Calzone, and a 2 liter of Coke. We were told it would be a 60 to 90 minute delivery window, which we decided was ok since the pick up window was 40 min. We got the delivery in 65 minutes and the first thing the delivery driver said was, "I'm sorry, I forgot your soda, but I am going to get it..I'll be right back". I told him no problem. We aren't that far from the store, maybe 10 minutes. I waited for over 30 minutes when he called my phone to tell me that when he got back to the store, there were so many deliveries that he wasn't going to be able to bring me my 2 liter and that I needed to call the store and ask for a refund. I was kind of taken aback, as I thought, what if it was food that was missing? Would they just say, oh well, sorry? I called the store and told them what the driver had said and they told me that they would credit me $5 for my next visit. I said "no, just refund it on my cc since I'm not sure that I will be back". The missing soda was only the first problem... the garlic knots were overcooked, as they were very brown and chewy. Almost like they had been microwaved to stay warm, and the container of marinara had a lid that was just laying on top, not even snapped on, so sauce was every where. The wings had way too much honey and not enough garlic. The only good thing was the calzone. That was just about perfect. Unfortunately, we probably won't be back if this is what the food tastes like and not sure that we could...
