We waited at the bar, asked for chips and salsa with our margaritas, never received them. We were moved to a booth in the back of the side room. We sat at the booth for 30 minutes, finished our margaritas, but were never greeted. Finally stopped an employee who was rushing past our table and said we lost our waiter. He sent someone over who was going to get us drinks and chips. After 15 minutes he was back to take our order. I asked for a glass of water, the waiter said he would get water as soon as we gave him our order. We ordered our dinner and waited 10 minutes for water. Finally, I got up and found a waitstaff station behind the bar. Three employees were standing around apparently doing nothing. I asked for a couple of glasses so I could get a glass of water for my wife and myself. One said he would bring the water to us. I returned to my seat and a female employee came to our table with queso and chips, said it was on the house. Still no water. We explained we wanted a glass of water and did not want the chips and queso. She left and after a while someone brought us our water. When our meal finally arrived, we ate and left. The meal was nothing special, pretty ordinary really. It definitely was not worth the wait and aggravation. This Matito's location is poorly run, with average food. I would look...

Outstanding Service at Mattito's, our server, Cathy, was Marvelous!

I had the pleasure of dining at Mattito's (on a Friday night) with my sister, her husband and their two toddlers, and our experience was absolutely delightful, thanks in large part to our amazing server, Cathy! From the moment we arrived, Cathy was incredibly attentive, ensuring our every need was met. Her sweet and caring nature made us feel right at home, and she brought an infectious energy to our table that made the evening so much fun!!

What truly stood out was how accommodating Cathy and the rest of the staff were with the little ones. They provided crayons to keep the toddlers entertained and promptly brought out chips and salsa, which were a hit with everyone. Cathy’s wonderful personality shined through as she engaged with both the adults and the kids, making sure everyone was happy and comfortable.

It’s rare to find a server who embodies such a perfect blend of energy and warmth, but Cathy nailed it. If you’re visiting Mattito's, especially with family, I wholeheartedly recommend asking for Cathy; she will make your meal unforgettable!

Mattito's, with its delicious food and incredible staff like Cathy, has definitely earned a top spot on my list of favorite places to dine.

Thank...

This is such a great restaurant for Mexican food. The prices are better than most in the area and the food is delicious. It has a great, laid back atmosphere and the employees are so nice! My husband got the brisket tacos (comes with rice and beans). I got the puffed beef tacos (also comes with rice and beans but I substituted beans for rice-I also opted for no cheese on my tacos). Both dishes were not only great but they were filling as well. When the puffed tacos came out it didn't look like there was any meat. Let me assure you, there was A TON of meat. I ended up kind of smashing the second one and eating it with a fork because it was messy and the bottom is full of meat. When we first got there, we got chips and salsa. The thinner salsa in the picture is what we received and it was spicy and really good. With our meal, they brought more salsa and it was thicker and while it was fresh and taste good, it wasn't as spicy.

Our waiter was attentive and our drinks stayed full. The only thing that's a little strange is the parking. It's in the back of the restaurant but the way it's set up it can be a little confusing if you're in the right place. This is not the fault of the restaurant, I think it's just where it's located. Not a big deal but thought...

Don’t be fooled by the photos. The food looks very appetizing. But when you take the first bite you know what it truly is. Now different people do have different taste buds and likes and dislikes but never before have I been to a place where the food is inedible. We started with the appetizers like ceese filled jalepenos, spinach enchiladas and bacon wrapped chicken which were good. But then came the main course. The veggie fajitas were okay but a bit unseasoned. The pork tacos were dry and could use more flavour and seasoning. Now some of us ordered their chicken and a veggie main course with mole sauce. We have had mole before but this one was really inedible. Too much cacao I would say. Then there was a spicy red reaper sauce which had a bitter aftertaste and was inedible too. The avocado enchiladas were good though. The shrimp fajitas were overcooked and not juicy. So overall it was quite a disappointing evening for all of us. I would say choose your sauces carefully and take to the staff before you order. The atmosphere and vibe of the place is good and the staff is very friendly. The manager was kind enough to get a couple dishes off the plate which was good. May try this place again with different food choice.

Third or fourth time coming here. Always incredibly delicious. Portions are generous and a great value for the price. Service is always top notch. This time we had Eduardo and he went above and beyond for us. There are a couple of items I'm rather picky about when it comes to my Tex-Mex - chips and salsa, margaritas, fajitas, queso, churros - and they knock each one out of the ballpark here. These are all items I tend to be disappointed about in other restaurants but not here. The salsa is a little spicy, but in a flavorful way rather than pure heat. The queso is so good and doesn't taste like canned cheese. The premium margarita is strong and delicious, with fresh squeezed limes, and they have wonderful happy hour deals for it. The fajitas are well seasoned and they don't nickel and dime you if you run out of toppings and need extra like other places do. They also do a fun dessert for birthdays that's a huge bowl with caramelized popcorn, churros with dulce de leche inside, and a cloud of cotton candy. It's a massive hit with the kids. I just wish they were closer to Denton so I could go more often but it's well worth the drive and my favorite tex-mex in the area by far.
