My wife and I were kicking around at the farmers market in Foley when we decided to grab some lunch and we noticed there was a Moe’s Original BBQ close by so we decided to give them a go. We walked inside and after taking a quick look at the menu, we both decided on the BBQ Sandwich with chips and Potato Salad as sides. I decided to have my sandwich ‘Bama Style which includes BBQ sauce, white sauce and Cole Slaw. After paying we took our number, sat outside and waited for our order to arrive. After a short wait, our orders arrived without issue. I’m sure I don’t need to mention that BBQ is serious business here in the south and anyone bringing a half hearted effort to the table won’t last long. Keeping this in mind, I’m at a loss how Moe’s manages to stay in business. Don’t get me wrong, their BBQ isn’t that bad, in fact, if it was in New York, Chicago or L.A., I might think is was pretty good. Unfortunately, we’re in the south and Moe’s BBQ does not make the cut. If it wasn’t for the sauces on my sandwich, it would be completely absent of flavor. Speaking of lack of flavor, the Potato Salad looked great but unfortunately, my taste buds were not treated as well as my eyes. Though it included red and green peppers, onions and Celery, the only flavors I detected were Potato and a faint whiff of Vinegar. Considering the lack of flavor, I began to wonder if I was coming down with COVID. All this and my wife’s sandwich without all the “Bama Style” extras turned out to be extra dry. So after reading all of this you might think I hated Moe’s but I didn’t. It was okay and if I was in the mood for some fast food BBQ and Moe’s was the only close option, I would eat there again. However, in the highly competitive field of BBQ, Moe’s is not the kind of place you go out of the way for and it certainly isn’t the type of place you take visiting friends and family to. Moe’s is okay but it’s no where near great, if you’re looking for great BBQ,...
Read moreI came here from out of town after meeting up with some friends it had great reviews compared to other bbq spots so we chose it. For 4 half pieces of catfish and a chicken platter we paid a little over $40! I was initially skeptical of getting the catfish as I had never been here before. When it came out relatively quickly I was surprised and thiught it was due to good service. However, I was wrong! I am visibly pregnant and was sharing with my toddler but as i picked through the fish it just didnt seem right. I picked around and tried a few bites. I eventually came across a piece that was completely raw. It looked as if the fish had be covered in the batter the fried for 10 seconds kind of raw. The corn bread was very…interesting. The beans however were a hit for our entire table.
I was given a refund for the catfish meal, but a refund does not really make up for how upset my stomach is this morning. Being that im pregnant im hoping symptoms do not last long.
I will say the staff member that helped me out was very nice and offered a new meal or refund but i took the refund as my stomach was already doing flips after that.
If you do go here make sure you ask for extra...
Read moreFirst off the girl with the (straight brown long hair) taking our lunch order yesterday was less than helpful. She kept trying to push me to buy a platter. I asked a few questions about a sandwich and she didn’t know much about the food and was less than helpful. Then she started to have this weird fake smile/smirk plastered on her face, SUPER weird. Then she served our food (right after handling money @ the register)Strange thing is, she serve us ONLY our food no one else. She waited a bit to bring mine out and I was SO uncomfortable with her, I checked my sandwich to see if she did something to it. I’ve never done this at a restaurant and never had this feeling before at a restaurant…but something was SUPER off about her! We ordered a moe (po)boy and 2 sides on of which was home style fries for $14.50. The amount of food served didn’t equate to the amount of food. The fries were square breakfast style potatoes and we got maybe 8 or 10 squares and the po boy was on a small burger bun. The other sandwich we got was amazing (thankfully I got no (skimpy)sides). Never...
