Billy J's Restaurant — Restaurant in Fontana

I'll start off by saying that I have never eaten here before and regardless of how the food is, I will support this restaurant and owner for deciding to stand up against tyranny and doing the right thing for their business and employees, if you get what I'm trying to say without getting them in trouble.

That being said... the food was really good as was the service. By looking at the place it looks like your standard dated Cafe or Diner so we weren't expecting much.

The food didn't match the decor. We had the Texas Cheese Fries and they were delicious! I ordered breakfast for dinner and had the chili verde omelet and it was incredible! The meat was cooked perfectly as was the omelet. The German fries were great. The biscuit and gravy was decent but I wasn't expecting the freshest biscuit at 6:00 at night so I was okay with that part of it. My girlfriend loved her Avocado chicken sandwich. The bread was fresh and the avocado was great.

The best part of the meal was the waitress. I belive her name was Karin? She was running the place single handedly with the help of a busboy but she was nice, patient and very thoughtful. She brought refills before we asked, supplied us automatically with everything we needed for our meal, again without us needing to ask for anything. You can tell she was a professional waitress who knew how to help people!

The hostess that sat us acted like we were bothering her when she had to walk to seat us. Took about 10 minutes for someone to say I be right with you. We ordered our drinks n meals . my wife got her meal and the waitress brought me an order but not mine. She said you ordered this I said no didnt she insisted I did. She leaves n goes to check her little notepad. Comes back and says she ordered the next tables food. And said she put mine n my daughter order in. My wife eating and almost done with her food 15 minures later when I got my order along with my daughter's. Not one time did out waitress come to see if we need anything. Our food we order was good...but service was horrible it sucked.....when getting our bill the waitress charged us for an extra drink. ...i went to pay and told hostess that I was charged for an extra drink she then went to ask the waitress. My wife asked to talk to manager...when she told him about the problems he made excuses that there were short handled. Our waitress had 4 tables including ours. 2 of those tables had there food already,the table behind us got there food before us. Hope there service gets better or get better waitresses....my wife left a note saying food was good service was horrible n a small tip . she watched waitress she took the gathering tip n threw...

I have been a customer for about 5 years and this place was great under the previous ownership and I am pretty sure many can agree the decor and atmosphere as well as the service and food used to be much better and pleasant the last 2-3 times me and my wife have gone we have noticed an awful septic smell coming from the entrance area as well as the dining area on the same side the smell is so bad that every time we are seated in that area I have requested to move to the far side of the restaurant I have also considered leaving due to the odor from the loss of my appetite but only stayed because I feel some sense of loyalty to this restaurant and my wife has been coming here since she was a little girl and it has become our go to place for a nice lunch or breakfast but like I have stated before this establishment has been going down hill in every area since change in management. I am also very concerned as to what happened to Billy J the dog poster that used to be at the entrance it was part of the experience of going to Billy J’s and always made our day a little brighter to see some light humor at our favorite spot and created a sense of community. I only want to see this place restored to its old self because it used to be a very enjoyable food spot that felt local and...
