Dona Timos Mex Grill, at 8836 Sierra Ave. in Fontana, which received a 77/C on April 5, underwent a mandatory rescore inspection April 19.
This time, it got an 80/B — one point shy of being shut down for receiving two C grades in a row — and repeated most of the violations from last time.
There were two critical violations: Raw beef, raw chicken and ready-to-eat ham were stored in the same pan, and blood from the beef was contaminating the other two items. Also, cooked chicken and beef were at unsafe temperatures.
Among the nine other violations, there were dry rodent droppings in a storage area (a repeat issue), there were large openings in the roof and food was being stored on the floor of the walk-in cooler.

Read moreEaster Sunday. It was my first visit. Recommended by family that has been visiting for many years. I was immediately pleased by the trio playing. I can always tell if a restaurant is going to be good by the salsa and chips. There was two different types of salsas; both were delicious. Chips were hot and tasty. Tortillas were also fresh, hot, and flavorful; made in house. Portions were great, food was authentic and absolutely delicious. I am skeptical about certain foods in restaurants, but EVERYTHING was as if my own family had made it. No one makes chile Verde like my dad. I never like anyone else's chile Verde. This one actually comes quite close. Tacos are large and loaded, chile Colorado was also very close to my dad's, the complimentary console was so hot and savory, clean and satisfying. I will definitely be back, and I will be bringing my father to enjoy some nostalgic...
Read moreThe first time I came here I didn’t like the food. I tried giving it a second chance only to reassured myself why I didn’t like this place. The salsa tasted refrigerated. I don’t know if it’s because we got there early and they wanted to use last nights leftovers. The chilaquiles sauce tasted like a salsa from a can. The complimentary shrimp consomé they give you had the strongest bad order. The menudo caldo was super thick. Overall I would give this place a no star review on the food, however our waitress was super nice. It’s not her fault the food sucks. And I still paid $90 for 3 people breakfast. Don’t waste your...
