I want to call Paperboy Roasting a hidden gem, but I feel like a hidden Origin Story is more appropriate.

I love to visit niche and unique coffee shops around SoCal, and not to be a bummer, but I’m often not super impressed with a lot of them. Paperboy Roasting is another (origin…) story.

You don’t often come across owners and baristas with the passion that’s found here, but Paperboy delivers. So far I’ve ordered Matcha Lattes (the bourbon vanilla version is phenomenal), and Paul’s Iced Berry Bomb and Sunkist Blends (I ordered mine iced and black, no sweeteners or milk products), and as an avid consumer of BLACK coffee, his is phenomenal. The flavors I get out of these cups is astonishing, and I truly enjoy them. I’m not one to enjoy OVERLY sweet milk drinks, and most coffee shops ruin their drinks for me with the sheer dump trucks of sugar they add, but when I explained my sweetness tolerance to Paul, he nailed it. Absolutely delicious.

Paperboy Roasting in currently installed inside of a senior center (definitely a true origin story and I love it) and it has plenty of space to sit down, relax, pull out a laptop and work on school, content creation, etc. The aesthetics are very cozy and there’s even outdoor seating.

Yall better hustle and get in here before there are Paperboys on Times Squares for real!

I had an incredible experience at paper boy roasting! I ordered a matcha latte made with ceremonial-grade matcha and a touch of maple syrup for natural sweetness—it was absolutely perfect. The matcha had a smooth, earthy flavor, and the balance was just right.

What really sets this place apart is their dedication to quality. They roast their own coffee beans, ensuring every cup is fresh, rich, and full of flavor. You can truly taste the difference!

When I checked out, I noticed they didn’t have a tip option on the card reader. The owner explained that their focus is on serving exceptional coffee rather than expecting tips, which I really appreciated. They do have an optional cash tip jar for those who want to show extra appreciation.

If you haven’t been to Paperboy Roasting Company yet—go now! This place is an absolute GEM in Fontana. I had the iced horchata latte with maple syrup cold foam and it was insanely good. The horchata syrup is house made (yes, HOUSE MADE!), and you can totally taste the difference. It’s warm, cinnamony, and comforting without that fake, overly sweet flavor some other syrups have. The maple cold foam on top? Just the perfect touch of cozy sweetness.

What really makes this spot special is the owner, Paul. He’s incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about coffee. You can tell he lives and breathes coffee—in the best way. He even roasts his own beans in-house, which is such a flex and makes every drink taste next-level fresh.
